Sucker Punch has laid off 26 employees just weeks after releasing DLC and the Complete Edition of Ghost of Yotei for PS5. According to Aftermath, studio management announced the cuts to staff by email, citing market challenges and staffing needs for its next project.

In the message, management said it had reviewed staffing needs before deciding to cut jobs. The email did not specify which roles were affected but said several positions would be eliminated. Sucker Punch has about 200 employees.

Management also acknowledged the impact on staff. The email said the decision was not taken lightly and that the studio was working to support affected colleagues through the transition. “There’s no denying that this is a difficult day,” the email said.

The layoffs follow the release of new Ghost of Yotei content. The Complete Edition for PS5 includes DLC with a new story and other additional content. The game sold 3.3 million copies in its first month, but no sales figures are available for the latest edition or the DLC.

The email indicates that Sucker Punch is working on another project, though it does not identify the game or say how far along it is. Management told staff it would share more details about the studio’s plans next week.
