Tests for the new Season 20 Hero

It’s already known that there won’t be a new hero coming to Overwatch 2 Standard mode, these releases only occur in even seasons of the hero shooter - being Wuyanglink outside website the last one so far. Even with the arrival of a new character, probably only in Season 20, it was confirmed that there’ll be a testing period for the new heroine still in Season 19!

We don't have much information about her yet. But the final trailer below shows that she's a war-thirsty character, similar to Junker Queen.

Halloween event in Overwatch 2

As always, Blizzard chooses to celebrate seasonal events, such as Halloween or Christmas, in its games—and it won't be any different in 2025! Between October 14th and November 3rd, everyone will be able to enjoy three exclusive event modes.

The centerpiece is the all-new Haunted Masquerade mode. Here, you can dress up as the mask of one of your allies' heroes, adding mechanics from that other character to your own. However, it's not just about random benefits; Blizzard has also chosen to create specific synergies to reflect moments in history—for example, when Reinhardt and Brigitte joined shields.

With the Haunted Masquerade, you'll not only have the chance to create countless creative compositions, but also relive significant parts of Overwatch history!

Return of Familiar Game Modes

It's common for Overwatch 2 to return with modes already released in previous years, and we'll once again have Junkenstein's Revenge and Wrath of the Bride for you to experience this Halloween!

As a reminder: In Junkenstein's Revenge, your role is to defend Adlersbrunn Castle, surviving hordes of zombies and monsters—you can play alone or in a team.

Wrath of the Bride is a more cinematic experience, where you and your team—controlling Sojourn, Junker Queen, Kiriko, and Ashe—must invade the conquered Adlersbrunn region. Navigating mazes, eliminating monsters, and facing bosses will be some of your challenges!

There's a lot of debate about revisiting modes we've already played yet again—the idea of dealing with "recycled" experiences can be frustrating.

However, as long as the company is committed to continually refreshing these events with new options—as it did with the Haunted Masquerade —there's no problem with revisiting Junkenstein's Revenge and Wrath of the Bride once again. It's even interesting considering that new players will experience classics acclaimed by veteran audiences.

It's not confirmed, but there’ll likely be a list of free missions that will reward us with exclusive cosmetics, a new skin, and Battle Pass XP. So, remember to log in to Overwatch 2 between October 14th and November 3rd.

Changes to Stadium

It's a fact that Stadium has been a success since its launch, achieving excellent numbers and generating community momentum. With that, more content will be added to keep the mode fresh.

Three More Heroes, New Map, and New Reward Skin

Among the new additions, Torbjörn, Hazard and Sojourn join the Stadium roster, not to mention the addition of the already known Control map - Busan Sanctuary.

A few more improvements have been made to make your match experience even more satisfying, such as new filters and search methods in the Arsenal to make it easier to find the item or skill you want to acquire, as well as a new Advanced Information Panel that serves to display damage and efficiency statistics for these resources - helping you better understand each item in a build and whether there’s room for change.

We'll also have combat text available. You'll be able to see damage and healing amounts floating on the screen, both in first- and third-person. You'll have the ability to customize the size, transparency, and type of data displayed, or disable it if you prefer.

Gadgets: Overwatch 2's New Active Items!

Finally, the last and most considerable change here is Gadgets. These tools, in addition to increasing some of your character's stats—as items themselves already do—have active effects, so you can use them whenever you want.

You can have one Gadget equipped per match, providing another way to diversify gameplay and bring even more tactical and strategic thinking to fans. Some examples already released by Blizzard are:

  • Colossus Core: Allows you to advance unstoppably.
  • Kitsune Charm: Cleanses away debuffs and keeps your team in the fight.
  • Jet Skates: Allows you to quickly escape from opponents.

    New Skins

    Battle Pass

As with previous Seasons, Blizzard is revamping the Battle Pass with a track packed with exclusive cosmetics. The update's central theme is truly Halloween, with the previously announced skins primarily featuring monsters, demons, and vampires.

The legendary skins on the Season 19 track are Oni Cassidy, Mermonster Wuyang, Vampire Moira, Ninja Sombra, and One-Eye Wilhelm Reinhardt.

Cursed Woods Echo, Cursed Teddy Zenyatta, and Cursed Candle Torbjörn will also be added to your epic skins!

The standard 80 Mythic Prisms reward for those who purchase any premium version of the Battle Pass will also remain, which is enough to acquire and fully upgrade a Mythic Skin!

The Vampire Kiriko and R-7K Preserver Ramattra styles are exclusive to the Ultimate Battle Pass.

    Season 19 Mythic Skins

Until now, Seasons have featured two Mythic skins: one for a weapon and one for a hero. This pattern changes starting in Season 19; we'll now have two skins of this rarity for different heroes!

The first is Divine Druid Lifeweaver, which will arrive on the first day of the update along with Kiriko's Spirit Keeper. Cyber Fuel Junkrat will only be available in the Mid-Season update.

We haven't had much information about Junkrat's style, but you can already check out the skins for the Season's first two Mythic cosmetics.

Keep in mind that the unique feature of this rarity is the exclusive animations. I recommend watching a gameplay video of each one before purchasing.

From October 14th to 27th, you can purchase the Archangels set, with cosmetic items for the heroes Mercy, Freja, Genji, Baptiste, Pharah, and Sigma.

Soon after, between October 28th and November 10th, Spirits will dominate Overwatch 2. With skins for Kiriko, Ashe, Reaper, Widowmaker, and Roadhog.

There's more to come in the Mid-Season update!

In the video hyperlink (Developer Update | Season 19: Haunted Masquerade, Stadium, Mythics, ), published by the official Overwatch 2 YouTube channel, in addition to all the changes we've already discussed, they address extremely relevant topics for the Mid-Season update.

The developers reinforce the testing period that will take place for the new character of Season 20 and also confirm the addition of a new space focused on the story of the hero shooter!

Apparently, this section will be divided into seasons so that you, whether new or veteran, can learn about and experience the stories and events unfolding over the years in videos or comics in a chronological order.

    Conclusion

Season 19 is packed with new features, with numerous changes to Stadium mode and the Halloween event being Blizzard's biggest plans for this season.
