On the 18th, Overwatch 2 got one of its best seasons since it became free-to-play in 2022. Some of the new features included a new mechanic to revamp the gameplay, a reset and new rewards in competitive modes, as well as the return of Loot Boxes. You can check out details and opinions about these and other changes in our full Overwatch 2 overview: Spotlightlink outside website!

But today's focus is somewhere else: analyzing the Battle Pass, a track of free and premium rewards that are renewed every season, bringing more cosmetics and resources to players.

Even with the positive changes, the Pass is one of the main ways Blizzard raises money through monetization, in addition to keeping the audience active in order to complete it. That's why it's so important to develop compelling content along the trail, and that's what we're going to look at today, check it out!

How the Overwatch 2 Battle Pass Works

If you’re already familiar with the standard structure of a Battle Pass, you can skip ahead to the rewards topic. However, since our content is also focused on new players, it’s important to mention how the track works in Overwatch 2.

It basically follows the same idea as other titles: earn XP to move up levels, and each level offers rewards, some being free and others, the premium ones, being for those who purchase the content.

Each level requires 10,000 XP to be achieved.

How to level up in the Battle Pass

The main way to progress on the track and get items is by playing matches and, most of all, by completing daily and weekly missions. Every day, a range of tasks will appear, where the first three will grant you 3,000 XP.

Weekly challenges offer rewards in their own right, usually 5,000 XP or 150 Credits, which can be used to purchase certain skins. Completing three of these challenges will give you a bonus of 20,000 XP, which is essential for your progress.

Periodically, Blizzard also works on some events which offer more missions, rewarding us with extra XP. This usually happens on commemorative dates, when a new game mode is released, or when a partnership adds new cosmetics from other universes to the Hero Shooter.

That's why a well-designed Battle Pass keeps the community playing constantly. Better rewards will encourage the user base to continue completing missions, from daily to seasonal ones.

All rewards in the Season 15 Battle Pass

The track has 80 reward levels, 28 of which provide free items. We’ll highlight the main items granted, after which we’ll make available a video showing all of the rewards so you can draw your own conclusions.

Free Items

Among the free unlockable rewards are: 2 Skins, 3 Player Icons, 1 Name Card, 2 Victory Poses, 3 Sprays, 4 Voice Lines, 2 Highlight Intros, 1 Weapon Charm, 1 Souvenir, 1 Legendary Loot Box, as well as 1500 Credits and 600 Overwatch Coins.

It's a fact that skins are always the stars of a Battle Pass, so we'll start with them. In the free version, it’s possible to get Sindri, for Torbjörn, and Suanni, for Mei; they will be rewarded, respectively, at levels 40 and 70.

These are epic skins that don’t bring different effects and styles to the skills, only in their clothes and weapons, and in the case of Torbjörn, also on his Turret. But, still, they were well-crafted and are in no way inferior to other free tracks we've had in Hero Shooter.

If you're interested in Mei's skin, you'll definitely like the only Card present in the free rewards. It's based on the character's style in this skin and was highly praised by the community even though it's a simpler type of cosmetic.

The two Victory Poses are quite charming, especially Ramattra's Defensive one. It’s unlocked very quickly, at level 7. The other, Venture’s, is granted to players who’ve reached level 51 of the path.

The voice lines and animations are also interesting, but we'll show them later since they’re videos.

Premium Items

In addition to all of the items already mentioned, the Premium version includes even more Credits, Legendary Loot Boxes and cosmetics, as well as 80 Mythic Prisms and five legendary skins!

The Mythic Prisms are used to acquire a mythic skin that changes every Season, this time it's Zenyatta Pixiu. This skin portrays well the divine air of its inspiration, which is the Golden Dragon Pixiu, a famous symbol of good luck in China. It’s one of the best, if not the best, mythic skin ever introduced in the game.

The cosmetic costs 50 Prisms to unlock, plus 10 to level it up, totaling 80 if you want to make it the max level. As the skin improves, new chromas and accessories are unlocked for you to customize it however you like.

You can also save the Prisms to purchase mythic weapon skins or skins from future seasons. In our coverage of Overwatch 2: Spotlightlink outside website we show you the official concepts released by Blizzard to let you know about the cosmetics that will arrive in Seasons 16 and 17, including a D.Va one in honor of South Korea!

But focusing on this current Pass, the legendary skins which belong to it are for Kiriko, Hanzo, Zarya, Venture and Orisa and are unlocked respectively upon reaching levels 1, 20, 30, 60 and 80.

In my eyes, Zarya's skin is a little below the rest, it could have been released as an epic one. But all the others are more than satisfactory, and overall they are great cosmetics, Venture received her first legendary outfit and it looks amazing! The community and influencers themselves highlight the quality of the outfits and I agree with that, it’s a fact that Blizzard really works extraordinarily hard on this aspect.

On the other hand, we’re met with the same Ultimate effects of the game's default skins, as well as the epic skins. I understand that this is not something specific to this season of Overwatch 2, older legendary skins also lack new animations, but I see it as a problem to be solved by the company in the future.

Finally, another skin provided here is Tianma Lúcio. For its rarity, which is epic, the outfit works well.

You can check out all of the rewards in the video below. Continue reading the article after that to learn about other versions of the Battle Pass, as well as our conclusion on whether it's worth buying!

You can play as usual and receive the items granted by the free version of the track or purchase the Premium one for 1000 Overwatch Coins and have access to all other rewards already mentioned here. But you can still choose other versions.

It’s possible to buy the Premium one along with a 20-level advancement, costing 2200 coins, and lastly the Ultimate version costing USD 39,99. It stands out for granting the Premium pass and the 20 advancement tiers, in addition to 2 thousand Overwatch Coins and two skins: Bai Ze, for Kiriko, and Toxic, for Doomfist.

These are beautiful skins, and even though they may appeal to different target audiences, I feel like the respective audiences will be pleased with the quality, despite suffering from the aforementioned issues.

The coins add a lot to the package and can be used in the future for other skins or new Battle Passes.

Is the Season 15 Battle Pass worth buying?

It's definitely one of the best tracks we’ve ever had in Overwatch 2, the aspects mentioned for improvement deserves to be heard, but it doesn't erase all the qualities we’ve seen here. Blizzard delivered high-quality cosmetics, above average when compared to other games. Zenyatta Pixiu was a huge success, praised since its announcement made weeks ago and seen as one of the best skins in its category so far.

There’s a greater focus on Chinese culture, I believe it’s to take advantage of the Chinese New Year moment, but some individual skins which step outside of the theme can take away a bit from the concept created by the company, in addition to maybe confusing part of the audience.

Regardless of that, I believe it will be worth purchasing the Premium Pass. The Ultimate version will depend more on your financial situation, but the investment of 1000 Coins will already be enough to satisfy you with the incredible cosmetics worked on for this season.

The return of Loot Boxes was also an important point at this time, the two Legendary boxes provided to those who purchased the Battle Pass can add some more rare cosmetics to your collection. Despite the controversy, it’s another way to earn rewards.

Of course, you should form your own opinion from now on, but I hope this article has helped you with that! I’m available in the comments to receive questions or suggestions.
