Final Fantasy XIV Evercold will no longer launch in January 2027. The MMORPG’s next expansion has been pushed back to February 23, 2027, with early access beginning February 19. During the FFXIV Fan Fest presentation in Japan, the team described the change as a four-week delay.

The new date was announced alongside the full Evercold trailer, which also serves as the expansion’s opening cinematic. The video opened the event’s main presentation, hosted by Final Fantasy XIV director and producer Naoki Yoshida.

During the keynote, Yoshida shared details about new features, the direction of the ongoing story and major gameplay changes. Evercold will arrive with version 8.0 and take the story to a new world.

Preorders open November 4, 2026. Players who preorder the expansion will receive bonus items, to be revealed later during Fan Fest.

The expansion will also add two new Jobs. Bastion will be a Tank, while Zephyr will be a ranged DPS. Zephyr will wield a crossbow as a primary weapon and have an avian companion that provides support in combat.

Evercold will also include a series of crossover raids with Neon Genesis Evangelion and another based on Final Fantasy VII. That content joins the new main story and other changes planned for Final Fantasy XIV version 8.0.
