Electronic Arts has detailed a broad overhaul of Career Mode in EA Sports FC 27. The changes, presented in a technical document by the developer, affect negotiations, player development, club artificial intelligence, squad management, and season simulation.

The main highlight is the transfer market, rebuilt in partnership with TransferRoom, a platform used by professional clubs. Instead of a signing being resolved in a single conversation, the process now has stages: it starts with an inquiry about the selling club's and player's interest and can progress through parallel negotiations, changing circumstances, or competition from other offers.

[m]The goal is to make each transfer less predictable and closer to the dynamics of professional football.[/m] To achieve this, the game will use Expected Transfer Value (xTV), a system that calculates players' market value based on different factors. As a result, prices will no longer remain virtually fixed throughout a career.

The presentation of conversations is also changing: the old negotiation system in a 3D environment is being replaced by a 2D interface designed to focus on key information and indicate, in real time, whether a deal is close to being completed or falling apart. The transfer hub, meanwhile, separates talent scouting from negotiation tracking.

AI-controlled clubs will also have their own market identities. Teams known for developing young players will tend to seek out prospects, while others will prioritize already-established players. Historical rivalries should make deals between certain teams more difficult, while clubs within the same corporate group will find it easier to do business.

Another new feature is Dynamic OVR, which makes overall ratings variable throughout the season. Performance, morale, fitness, and other elements can temporarily raise or lower a player's rating. Form will also begin to boost attributes that are more relevant to each position.

Squad management gains even more importance with changes to morale, match readiness, and the medical system. Players may have different recovery stages, requiring more careful decisions before putting them on the pitch. EA also introduced Growth Profiles, profiles that define different development rates for each player.
