Cheaper Game Pass, Ubisoft bringing the Black Flag remake, and much more. April comes to an end, leaving even more anticipation for the rest of the year.
Adaptations that are attracting attention have also made their appearance, so get ready to learn about each of the news below:
The Last of Us Online
The multiplayer director of The Last of Us recently revealed that the game was 80% complete and very close to being finished when Naughty Dog decided to pull the plug. The cancellation happened because maintaining a game as a service would require the studio to focus all its resources on it for years, preventing the creation of new single-player titles.
In the end, they chose to preserve the studio's identity, but the project died just 24 hours before its official announcement to the public. Therefore, Intergalactic is left with the responsibility of carrying the studio's name forward when the RPG debuts. An idea that respects identity or a wasted project?

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced
After much speculation, it's finally here! Ubisoft has officially announced Resynced as a complete remake of the pirate classic, with a release date set for July 9, 2026. It's not just a pretty face with Ray Tracing; they're reworking everything: the parkour is more fluid, the combat has been redone (borrowing mechanics from Shadows), and best of all, those annoying chase missions have been revamped to no longer result in an instant game over.
Oh, and now Edward can have a cat or a monkey on the ship. Priorities, right?
Cheaper Game Pass
After much complaining about the price increases, Microsoft has given in and reduced the prices. Xbox Game Pass now costs (in USD):
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – from $29.99 to $22.99
PC Game Pass – from $16.49 to $13.99
The strategy now seems to be to focus on the volume of subscribers and active users on the Xbox platform again, correcting the heavy-handedness of the last adjustments in 2025. It's the financial relief the community was begging for.
Call of Duty and the Day-One
Here's Microsoft's "trick": to compensate for the price drop on Game Pass, the new Call of Duty games will no longer be released on day one for subscribers. Now, the franchise's games will only arrive in the catalog about a year after their official release.
The idea is to guarantee direct profit from launch sales, since, apparently, putting such a giant game "for free" on the service was creating a financial hole that was difficult to fill.
Pragmata arrived and smashed it!
After years of delays and "the game doesn't exist" memes, Capcom finally delivered Pragmata in April 2026. And wow, the wait was worth it.
The game was critically acclaimed, especially for the relationship between the protagonists Hugh and Diana and for its super-polished futuristic combat. It's that kind of quirky science fiction that only Capcom knows how to do perfectly, running smoothly even on the new Nintendo Switch 2.
Will we see it winning GOTY and being more discussed in the future?
Elden Ring Movie
The universe of the Middle-earths is really coming to the big screen! Bandai Namco and A24 have confirmed that the live-action Elden Ring movie will be directed by Alex Garland (of Civil War and Ex Machina) and will hit theaters on March 3, 2028.
The cast is impressive, with names like Kit Connor and Cailee Spaeny, and the promise is of an epic film shot entirely for IMAX. Whether it will be as difficult to understand as the game's lore, we don't yet know, but expectations are sky-high.
Street Fighter Live-action
Legendary and Capcom are betting big on the new Street Fighter movie, which is already stealing the show in behind-the-scenes previews. Distributed by Paramount, the film is scheduled for release on October 16, 2026.
After so many failed attempts in the past, it seems that this time they’re treating the franchise with the visual respect it deserves, focusing on choreographed fights with effects reminiscent of the vibrant aesthetic of the games.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 in 2027
After more than a decade of supporting the second game, Bandai Namco has finally confirmed Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 for 2027. The project, previously known by the codename "Project AGE 1000", promises to be the generational leap fans have been waiting for, leveraging the full power of Unreal Engine 5 to deliver destructive battles on a scale the franchise has never seen before.
Metro 2039 is coming
4A Games has finally revealed that the next installment in the franchise is Metro 2039. The game has been officially announced and is scheduled for release later this year. Following the events of Exodus, it promises an even more immersive and technical world, focusing on the reconstruction of civilization amidst the ever-present mutant and political dangers.
Saros reinforces Housemarque's creativity.
Saros, the new PlayStation 5 exclusive "sequel to Returnal", has arrived to much critical acclaim. Described as a ballet of bullets and much more accessible, while still maintaining the level of challenge of its predecessor, the story has more narrative weight and is considered one of the great releases of the generation. It will only be released to the general public on April 30th.
