How Throne and Liberty works

Throne and Liberty has a similar style to World of Warcraft, focusing on PvE and PvP fights in the immense world of Solisium, with countless skills. Therefore, it’s possible, and frankly recommended, to enjoy this experience with friends.

Quests

We are introduced to some types of quests:

  • Adventure, which are story quests (Purple);

  • Exploration, similar to secondary tasks (Blue);

  • Contracts, specific objectives which we accept through a Contract Manager (Yellow);

  • Guild Contracts (Green);

    Classes (Weapons)

    The classes here work differently because we do not define them when creating our char, and there’s not exactly a Rogue, Mage, Warrior, etc. What will really define your skills and play style are the Weapons!

    Right after the story's prologue, you will receive a basic copy of each of the seven available weapons, all of which have different mechanics.

    Image content of the Website

    You can carry up to two weapons on your character, a primary and a secondary.

    We currently have seven options available, here’s a little about each one:

  • Sword and Shield: A more defensive style, focused on pushing away and blocking opponents.

  • Greatsword: Stun enemies with heavy attacks.

  • Long Bow: Deal damage over long distances.

  • Crossbow: Shoot quickly with two short bows to deal high damage.

  • Wand and Tome: Stands out more for support fans, as it weakens enemies and heals allies.

  • Staff: Uses the weather to cast elemental spells.

  • Dagger: Enhance it with poison to deal quick damage to enemies.

    Avoid changing weapons!

    Although the “classes” are more flexible in Throne and Liberty, since to change your gameplay, you just need to change your equipped weapon, this will harm your progress.

    During the journey, we need to evolve our weapons, armor and skills. Drastically changing your style after spending resources on improvements will weaken you in the short term, requiring you to play a lot more to increase your power again.

    So, I recommend that you calmly test the mechanics, take advantage of the beginning of the main campaign to do this, as the first quests do not require high combat power to be completed. But once you start following a build path, don't change it, it's preferable to create a different character for each combination you want to perform.

    This is just a suggestion to avoid damaging your progress, feel free to explore the most diverse gameplays with the same char if you prefer.

    Skills

    Skills are also part of your hero's build, and basically, we have three types: Defensive, Active and Passive. They vary depending on your arsenal, each skill belonging to a weapon.

    You can place them in your spell panel to use during combat, but select wisely as there’s a limit, not all of them will be available at the same time.

    Skills can be improved just like their items, and, in addition to that, they bring new effects via specialization points. In the example below, I strengthened one of my Crossbow’s skills.

    Most of the time, specializations grant increased damage, decreased cooldown, or improved range. This varies based on the purpose of your weapon and magic.

    Look up a build

    Basically the objective of an MMORPG is to improve your character as much as possible, be it to overcome challenging dungeons in PvE, or to stand out in battles between guilds in PvP, becoming one of the strongest and most respected players in his world.

    This speaks to the importance of focusing on a single build to optimize your resources, so don't be shy about “asking for help” by searching for a build on the internet. Of course, it can be really fun to naturally explore each variation, along with its strengths and weaknesses, but as the goal of this content is to help your playthrough, I recommend that, after trying out each weapon, search for combinations.

    There are many options, and having a guide will make you spend your resources efficiently, without “wasting time” evolving other items and skills.

    How to level up fast in Throne and Liberty

    Leveling up is the most solid way to evolve the power of your char, levels grant you status points that can be used to strengthen an attribute, remember that each build has a different focus on status progress. See more about it in the left corner:

    Furthermore, your level is essential for unlocking new stages of the game, such as certain dungeons. Now, let's see how to evolve quickly!

    Focus on Adventure

    By far the easiest way to do this is by completing the Adventure quests. They are simple quests that offer high XP, most of the time we just need to talk to NPCs and defeat certain monsters.

    Another benefit of the story is shown in the Codex, you access it by pressing J (PC), to collect rewards for each chapter completed. Right after finishing the first part, we chose a weapon to receive its copy in Uncommon rarity.

    If possible, try to accept Contracts that are consistent with the main adventure, they will provide more resources to improve your progress.

    At certain times, main tasks will require a minimum level which we will not be able to meet. In these cases, the best solution is to go after Exploration tasks and even more Contracts.

    Amitois

    An Amitoi is a companion, or a pet, during our journey in Solisium. It’s possible to collect them, each one has a unique appearance, but basically, they all have the same functionality, heal us using the World Tree Leaf consumable, which we can buy from merchants.

    But why is collecting them important? In the Amitois tab, we have the “Book of Lithographs” section, there we see that the more we have, we’ll gain buffs, including XP bonuses. In the following example, we already had a 1% experience upgrade for collecting just four pets.

    To unlock new Amitois, just click on the one you are interested in and go to “How to Acquire”, the game itself will show you how.

    Other sources of resources from your little companions are Amitoi Expeditions, they don't give experience per se, but are worth mentioning. It's a way to auto-farm, send them on an expedition to receive rewards, the longer the time, the more resources you will get.

    Play with friends

    Finally, prioritize playing with friends, you will receive shared XP with your friends by killing monsters or completing tasks. Also, you can team up to finish bosses and quests faster.

    Craft and Item Evolution

    To create items, we need the help of some specialist NPCs, Crafters, who we find in cities. They are marked by blue dots on the map.

    You’ll also need some resources, including coins. They are all simple to find, but focus on “Quality Lithograph”.

    This specific one is mainly earned by completing contracts, but pay attention to the Lithographs, as each one is used for a different type of item, in this case a weapon.

    Your equipment can be improved and enchanted by spending Growthtones and Gold.

    Mounts

    Like most RPGs, there’s a faster way to navigate the map than simply walking, and these are usually mounts. A differential in Throne and Liberty is that we are our own “mount”, we transform into land, air or sea animals to move around with more agility.

    You will increase the level of a transformation when you use it a lot, granting some benefits:

    Teleport Points

    Whenever you see these pillars, make sure to approach them and press F (PC), this will activate a new teleportation point, which unveils the region on the map, and also, obviously, allows you to quickly travel there.

    Fast travel, up to level 30, is free. After this mark, they require a small payment in gold.

    Conclusion

    I hope this article has better introduced you to the mechanics of Throne and Liberty. I'm open to questions and suggestions in the comments.
