Judas is an upcoming single-player first-person shooter from Ghost Story Games, led by BioShock creator Ken Levine, set aboard a disintegrating starship.

Edit reference

Judas is an upcoming single-player first-person shooter developed and published by Ghost Story Games, the studio led by Ken Levine. The project was formally revealed at The Game Awards in December 2022, when Ghost Story released its debut trailer. Levine is widely known as the creative director and co-founder associated with BioShock, and Judas is his first announced game since he founded Ghost Story Games in 2017.

The game’s premise centers on the Mayflower, a generation ship carrying human colonists through space. According to the official description, the ship is disintegrating, while its inhabitants have been conditioned to report one another to the authorities. The player controls the title character, Judas, described by Ghost Story as a “troubled and mysterious protagonist.” Her survival and escape are tied to relationships with the ship’s three powerful leaders, called the Big 3.

Ghost Story’s official materials describe Judas as a narrative-driven game in which choices shape alliances and enmities. The advertised hook is not merely choosing dialogue branches: the Big 3’s attitudes toward Judas can shift depending on how she behaves, and the player can make or break alliances with them. Ghost Story has framed these characters as central to the unfolding story rather than incidental quest givers. The studio has also said that each leader watches Judas and reacts to her actions.

Combat is presented from a first-person perspective. Footage and official descriptions show firearms, supernatural-looking abilities, and hostile robotic or altered enemies aboard the Mayflower. The reveal trailer showed Judas using a gun while confronting machines in ornate retro-futuristic interiors. This visual setting has led to comparisons with BioShock, but Judas is a separate new property and is not a BioShock sequel.

At its reveal, Judas was announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Ghost Story Games is based in the United States and was established after the closure of Irrational Games, the studio Levine co-founded and led. Many reports identify Judas as the result of Levine’s post-Irrational work, although Ghost Story operates as its own studio.

The game remains notable for its emphasis on a confined society, where social pressure, surveillance, and personal loyalty are built into the plot. Its announced premise makes the player’s relationships with the Big 3, rather than a simple rescue mission, the stated route to escape from the collapsing Mayflower. As of its public presentations, Ghost Story has not presented Judas as a multiplayer game or BioShock continuation in any way.
