Mojang has announced The Sift, a new Minecraft dimension coming to the Java and Bedrock editions in 2027. Once it arrives in the main game, the environment will join the Overworld, the Nether and the End as the fourth available dimension.The Sift will be Minecraft’s first new dimension since the End was introduced in 2011. Mojang has not revealed an exact release date or provided many details about its content, but it has confirmed the addition of new biomes, creatures and ways to play and explore.The dimension will also appear first in Minecraft Dungeons 2, which is scheduled for release on 29 September 2026. During Minecraft Live, held on 26 September, viewers got a glimpse of The Sift and one of the creatures that inhabit it.The preview was part of the reveal for Minecraft Dungeons 2, but Mojang is still keeping most of The Sift’s features in the main game under wraps. The company described the space as an environment that will expand the possibilities for exploration and gameplay in Minecraft.The announcement ends a more than 14-year wait for a new dimension in the game. The current structure, made up of the Overworld, the Nether and the End, will receive its first expansion of this kind when The Sift launches in 2027.During the same event, Mojang also unveiled Minecraft World, an attraction set to open in London at Chessington World of Adventures Resort in 2027. The site will feature a hotel with themed rooms, an ocean-themed restaurant and the first Minecraft roller coaster, with both indoor and outdoor sections. The company has not yet announced a specific date for The Sift’s arrival in Minecraft Java and Bedrock.
