So, you want to know why the player base is so excited about the Live Letter, but you don't feel like looking at Yoshi-P for four hours? We've summarized all the new features of Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.4, which will be released on December 16th!Patch 7.38 Before we jump into the new features of patch 7.4, we'll have a patch next week, on November 11th, with some minor adjustments regarding Ivalice Raids and the current Raids. This will now be an obtainable drop in Ivalice Raids! The weekly loot limit for current raids will be removed.Main Scenario Quest As usual, this patch will continue the main story, possibly serving as a plot hook for the next expansion.Hildibrand We’ll continue the saga of the best detective to ever grace Eorzea!Don't ask questions, you gotta be there to understand... or not.New dungeon - Mistwakeanother underground installation…New Trial - Hell on RailsLook, the Doom Train is passing by your street, coming in both Normal and Extreme modes.Continuation of the Arcadion RaidsThis raid tournament arc is amazing! It's worth mentioning that Savage mode will arrive 3 weeks after the patch release, that is, on January 6, 2026. Good to see they didn't release Savage mode at Christmas again. Finally, as we're entering a new Normal Raid Tier, we'll have a new set of craftable equipment. If you're just now reaching the high end, I recommend waiting for the patch before spending gil on it.Unreal - Tsukiomi’s PainAnd under the moonlight, the prodigal daughter returns… For those unfamiliar, Unreals are old Extreme fighting games updated to the current level, 100.Duty Support Updates Duty support is the mode in which you run dungeons with NPCs instead of players. In this patch, Dzemael Darkhold and Aurum Vale will gain this feature.New PVP season and new map The battle pass we have now will be replaced, and if you want anything from it, you'd better grab it before December 16th.After years, we have a new frontline map. It's also worth mentioning that they're adding rewards from past seasons to the store! This process is quite slow, but it's happening.Gold SaucerThe Air Force One minigame will also get a new map!Occult CrescentThree new phantom jobs are coming to spice things up. Additionally, the relic will receive an upgrade to item level 775. Supposedly we’ll be able to farm inside and outside of Occult Crescent; however, they also mentioned this for the last stage, and, for some reason, we couldn't farm inside the instance itself. Finally, there will also be farmable accessories in Occult, and if they follow the pattern of the armor, they should provide some extra benefits when used within the Field Operation itself.Cosmic ExplorationWe remain steadfast in our search for new civilizations beyond our humble planet. Unlike other Cosmic planets, here we'll explore the ruins of an extinct civilization. And yes, this will introduce a new mode where we'll have to actively explore the ruins! And of course, a new planet means a new stage for your crafting or gatherer relic!New Variant Dungeon - The Merchant´s TaleMy blood sugar spiked just from seeing those colors. For those unfamiliar with this mode, Variant Dungeons have been implemented in Endwalker, and they’re quite different from a normal dungeon. Here, your choices and actions determine the path you’ll follow and the bosses you’ll encounter. Using the existing Variant Dungeons as an example, each one has 12 possible endings, and completing all of them grants a mount. It's not guaranteed they'll follow this recipe, but I hope they do.For reference on how the pathways work. Furthermore, this type of dungeon can be done solo or with smaller groups. To do so, players will have extra actions to compensate for what is lacking in their job; for example, Tanks will have an action that deals AoE damage, DPSs can equip an action that functions as a Provoke, etc.The older Variant Dungeons came in these three difficulty levels, with the one on the left being the easiest and the one on the right the most difficult..This is the new model that will be implemented. Unlike the other Variants, the Advanced and Criterion modes will be something like a Boss Rush. There’ll be no enemies in the way, only the three dungeon bosses. It's also worth mentioning that it’ll be possible to level up a class in this dungeon starting at level 90.As far as we can tell, this will be one of the mounts for this variant.MiscellaneousStrategy Board As a long-time mentor, this type of resource is something I've always dreamed of having, because not everyone can understand the mechanics just by reading what's on the tooltips about them.Command PanelIf you like a more minimalist screen, this is for you. In short, it's a new hotbar that works in cascade, very useful for placing commands that are sometimes used, like emotes, but not always useful, and can have up to 25 slots for the most diverse uses you want to put there. Examples of commands to include are crafting macros, class switching, and emotes!Example of the Minimized PanelGlamours UpdateDo you know what this is? It's a revolution. If you show this to someone who doesn't play FF XIV, they won't think anything of it. Show it to a hardcore player and watch them ecstatic with joy. But what's so special about that? Simple, all class and level restrictions for applying glamour will be removed! Yes, all of them. Want to be a Warrior with a giant axe and a ballerina outfit? Sure! Black Mage wearing 60 kilos of armor? Only if it's right now! The only remaining limitation is that you can only apply glamour to weapons of the same category; for example, only a greatsword can receive glamour from other greatswords.ConclusionPatch 7.4 looks very exciting and promises to bring much-anticipated changes for players. Now all that's left is to get ready for the glamour, make some inventory space, and wait for December to arrive, because Eorzea is about to get even busier. Let's pray the servers can handle it.
