The year 2024 is over and with it our list of games we bought, got for free on platforms such as Epic Games or Prime Gaming, right? Lies! We're not even halfway through everything we have to play in our libraries (I, for one, haven't even finished Dragon Age Veilguard), but we still want all the new games announced.
But, can you get an idea of what to play? How can we separate the wheat from the chaff in this industry that bombards us with new titles every day? Which ones will flop, and which will be on top this year? We can't know yet, but we can tell you which games we’ll keep an eye on, and we will share with you our list of the 10 most anticipated games of 2025. If you want to share with us what your own list will be like, then just leave a comment.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra
• Genre: Action-Adventure
• Developer: Skydance New Media
• Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X
• Release date: 2025
Marvel is planning to release a new story-driven game in 2025 (looks like they've learned their lesson). During the chaos of World War II, two completely different worlds collide. Four heroes must unite to fight a common enemy.
These heroes are: a young Captain America, Black Panther, a spy from Wakanda and an American soldier. Can these four overcome their differences and stop Hydra's final rise? This Marvel epic is set to release in 2025 under the helm of Amy Henning, who you may know as the director of the Uncharted games.
Fable
• Genre: Action RPG
• Developer: Playground Games
• Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X
• Release date: 2025
The Fable game franchise is finally ready to return after 14 years. The new game is just called 'Fable', and will follow the hero Humphry, who needs to come out of retirement to stop a mysterious enemy. Furthermore, we can expect the world of Albion to feel like a fairy tale again, full of insane monsters and difficult choices to make. Exactly how we like our action RPG games! It will be (at least temporarily) an Xbox exclusive.
The game already has some controversy regarding the appearance of the protagonist shown in the trailer, which is a big nonsense, since the heroes in Fable have always been customizable and have never been the greatest examples of physical beauty. The game is being developed by Playground Games, which formerly worked on the Forza Horizon series.
DOOM: The Dark Ages
• Genre: Action, First-person shooter
• Developer: id Software
• Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X
• Release date: 2025
The next game in the popular DOOM franchise will take place in a world inspired by medieval times. This means the killing takes place in a dark fantasy realm full of ancient castles, demons, and dragons. But don't worry, the trailer clearly shows that The Dark Ages will be just as macabre and bloody as the other games in the franchise.
According to creative director Hugo Martin, in an interview with Games Radar, this next game will be more inspired by the 1993 original and will have slower, less vertical action, with fewer simultaneous enemies on the screen. Additionally, the trailer shows that you once again play as a Doom Slayer, who is also the main character in the other games. What happened to them? How did they end up there? And most importantly: Are you ready for battle?
Pokémon Legends Z-A
• Genre: RPG
• Developer: Game Freak
• Consoles: Nintendo Switch
• Release date: 2025
In 2025, we’ll finally be able to enjoy a new Pokémon game! In Pokémon Legends Z-A, we’ll return to Lumiose City, where you can meet the little monsters from the game Pokémon X and Y. It also comes with the title of 'Legends' which we first saw in Legends Arceus. This game introduced some interesting elements such as an open world, running and flying Pokémon and a greater focus on research, so there is a great chance that we will have these same elements in the next Legends, but in a modern setting.

Leakers report that this game should be released on the Nintendo Switch 1 and not for the next Big N console, but this has not yet been 100% confirmed. They have also announced that the game should introduce several new Megas, including Mega Zygarde and Mega Zeraora, as well as other surprises.
Monster Hunter Wilds
• Genre: Adventure, RPG
• Developer: Capcom
• Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X
• Release date: 2025
If you're a Monster Hunter fan, and you've been desperately waiting for the next game in the franchise, then 2025 will be your year! In 2023, Monster Hunter Wilds was announced at The Game Awards and, as you might expect, you play as a monster hunter and have to use the scarce resources in the land (i.e. monster parts) to create better weapons.
Among the new features announced are the Seikrets, which function as mounts and help in combat and in tracking our prey. If you are a fan of the franchise and haven't played Monster Hunter World yet, and want to come straight to Wilds, I’d recommend you reconsider and try the previous title first, as Capcom promises that this new game will have evolved action and improved immersion compared to any Monster Hunter game to date. And what about the movie? Forget about it!
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
• Genre: Action
• Developer: Kojima Productions
• Platforms: PS5
• Release date: 2025
Revealed during State of Play, this game will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. In the continuation of the iconic Death Stranding, we once again follow Sam Porter Bridges as he tries to rebuild cities and help the population of the destroyed world. All the while, he has to find his way through a strange post-apocalyptic world full of horrible monsters.
This second game looks even bigger and more impressive than the first. With stunning imagery and what looks to be a captivating story, we're curious to see how the second installment will live up to its iconic predecessor.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
• Genre: Adventure, RPG
• Developer: Ubisoft
• Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X
• Release date: 2025
Another game that arrived full of controversies and made thousands of experts on the history of Japan appear overnight on the internet. The next game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise takes us directly to ancient Japan and follows two protagonists who can be alternated between. Yasuke, an African samurai (who existed in real life and did have the title), with his heavy armor and strong attacks; and Naoe, a kunoichi, much more focused on stealth and light attacks.
After controversial titles, both for RPG fans, like Valhalla, or for those who like a more “traditional” experience, like Mirage, this game should be a milestone for the franchise and dictate the rules of what will happen to it in the future. The game has undergone some delays and, knowing the developer, this is good news, as this means that the game has probably undergone adjustments and refinements, but it should arrive in March this year.

GTA VI
• Genre: Action-adventure
• Developer: Rockstar Games
• Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X
• Release date: Fall 2025
Another game that arrived surrounded by controversies about the so-called “woke culture” just because there was a non-white woman on the cover? Yes. And what can we expect from GTA VI? Lots of chaos, gangsters, weirdos, robberies, fast cars, guns and alligators, all set in Vice City, a fictional place located in Miami.
GTA VI also had gameplay leaked in a very incomplete state, but it already showed a little of what's to come, with a huge open world and mechanics related to cell phones (like GTA V) to, perhaps, switch between the protagonists. In an interview with IGN, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive said that he is very confident that the game will be released next year and the release date will be in the fall of 2025.
InZoi
• Genre: Simulation
• Developer: Krafton
• Platforms: PC
• Release date: Scheduled for March/2025
The promised game which will finally rival The Sims should arrive in Early Access on March 28th, and uses the resources of Unreal Engine 5 to deliver an absurdly realistic and captivating experience, in addition to a high degree of character customization, as we saw in its “Zois” creator, released last year.
What remains to be seen is how fun the rest of the game is beyond the hyperrealism of its character creator. When Jordon Oloman previewed the game for Polygon at Gamescom 2024, he described InZoi as "a technical marvel, a mind-bending, genre-devouring life sim that I'm eager to delve into."
Elden Ring Nightreign
• Genre: Action, RPG
• Release date: 2025
• Developer: From Software
• Platforms: PC, Xbox Series, PlayStation 5
Join forces with other players to face the scary night and the dangers within it in a 3-player co-op. While individually formidable, their abilities create powerful synergies when they come together as a team. Take command of heroes with unique abilities, each possessing their own distinct skills and talent.
Overcome a relentless environmental threat which sweeps across a land that changes between each game session, and defeat that night's magnificent boss! Elden Ring Nightreign will be a standalone game, and not a DLC as previously planned, within the universe of Elden Ring, this time, without the involvement of the creators of one of the originals, George R.R. Martin.
