Nintendo Direct June 2024: All the Announced Games

On the morning of June 18th we had a Nintendo Direct full of news, with approximately 40 minutes of presentations, filled with games from the most varied studios.

Starting with the franchise that comes to everyone’s mind when they talk about Nintendo, Mario is perhaps one of its brightest jewels, and this time Nintendo is bringing something new to fans of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, with more cartoonish and charming visuals, Mario & Luigi: Brothership will be a turn-based RPG style game, like its predecessor, and everything points to co-op gameplay.

A Fairy Tail JRPG has been announced. The story takes place in the Kingdom of Fiore, where Natsu's team prepares for battle. The game will feature real-time battle with different characters on your team using different powers.

Fairy Tail 2 will be released in winter 2024.

For Final Fantasy lovers, Hironobu Sakaguchi is the mind behind a new RPG - FANTASIAN Neo Dimension - where the hero, Lei, faces an evil entity while searching for his memories. The game will be turn-based and feature a system where we must calculate the trajectory of a skill to attack multiple enemies at once, and send the enemies to another dimension to fight them later, the greater the number of enemies in that alternative dimension, the greater the number of them that can be annihilated with just a single blow.

FANTASIAN Neo Dimension will be released in winter 2024.

Nintendo Switch Sports players will get a new sport: basketball will be added as a new modality in the game, with 2v2 matches that can be played locally or online, a solo free throw mode or with up to 4 players to see who can get more baskets right.

The new update will be released in summer 2024.

MIO will be an adventure and exploration Metroidvania, where we must uncover its secrets and improve the protagonist's skills, to save the spaceship and its residents. Controlling MIO, we must explore the Ship, an immense technological ark dominated by vegetation and rebellious machines.

MIO: Memories in Orbit will be released in 2025.

A new update of the platform game with Disney characters is coming, and in the plot, Monoth's greatest detective is investigating a case, and Mickey and his friends can help him. Search for clues and evidence scattered around the world, and use a board to connect the clues and solve the case.

Originally from Apple Arcade, Hello Kitty Island Adventure is getting a version for consoles and PC.

Giving the player the freedom to create an avatar, we will have the opportunity to explore an immense island. In it, you will make friends with characters from the Hello Kitty universe.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure will be temporarily released exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sport will be released in fall 2024.

In Felicidad, a world populated by monsters, those who create and control them are called Farmagia, and are an essential part of the civilization of this universe.

In this game, we must create monsters and use them in real-time battles against the Magus' army, we must plant and cultivate crops, and from these crops are born our monsters that we will use in battle. There will also be a monster training and fusion system to make a giant Summon.

Originally released for the Nintendo Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD will be a remaster of the game released in 2010.

After Tiki Tak Tribe hypnotizes the island's residents and steals the entire supply of bananas, Donkey Kong goes after him, with 3D graphics remastered in HD and platforming gameplay, each stage will be filled with challenges.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD will be released on January 16, 2025.

In the Star Ocean: Second R style, Dragon Quest will receive a major Remake with graphical style updates. Square Enix promises to delight fans of the original and also new players with HD-2D games. From what it says in the official description, the game will have modernized gameplay mechanics.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake will be released November 14, 2024

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will only be released in 2025, with no foreseeable date..

The Funko toy line will get its own game, with a roster of more than 60 licensed characters, such as Marty McFly from “Back to the Future” and Freddy Fazbear from “Five Nights At Freddys”, and scenarios inspired by films, series and other games, from Jurassic World to Battlestar Galactica, the game will have real-time action mechanics and each stage will have its own mechanics and gameplay style based on the film from which the scenario is inspired.

Funko Fusion will be released on September 13, 2024.

The sequel to Luigi’s Mansion originally released for Nintendo 3DS has been announced, with fully remastered HD graphics. In the game, we control Luigi, Mario's brother, in a haunted mansion and gather all the pieces of the Black Moon to calm down the ghosts that become hostile without its presence.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD will be available from June 27, 2024.

A new RPG with little creatures called Denpa Men, it will be possible to explore dungeons, fight monsters, and customize our own Denpa Men. Furthermore, it will be possible to decorate a private island however you want and up to four players can join together in a world to get special Denpa Men.

The New Denpa Men will be free, and will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch temporarily, scheduled for July 22, 2024.

A Metal Slug tower defense has arrived, in the game we must put together team strategies to destroy the enemy's bases, with up to 300 characters with different skills. It will also be possible to battle against other players online.

The sequel to Darkest Dungeon, which was originally released in 2023, will finally arrive at Nintendo Switch. Set in a Dark Fantasy universe with elements of Lovecraftian horror, Darkest Dungeon II will feature “roguelike” and turn-based RPG gameplay, where players must assemble a group to explore decadent scenarios and avoid the apocalypse.

A new Phantom Brave title is coming, in which we control Marona who has the ability of communicating with ghosts to save Ash, the game will have tactical turn-based RPG battles, where we must combine objects with ghosts who have become our friends.

Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics will be released still in 2024.

A new Mario Party is coming for all fans of the series, taking place on a huge tourist island where we must compete against our friends in mini-games within a board game.

The game will feature five new boards, two boards from previous games in the Mario Party series. The game will also feature more than 110 varied mini-games, and it will be possible to have up to 20 players in an online match in Bowseratlon mode.

Super Mario Party Jamboree will be released on October 17, 2024.

To the delight of all Zelda fans, a new game in the franchise was announced, with the same artistic style as Link’s Awakening Remake released for Switch in 2019, in the Action-RPG style with a top-down screen like the classics in the series.

After Link saves Zelda from Ganon, he is pulled into a strange rift and disappears, and this time we will control Zelda in the role of protagonist and heroine. With the mysterious fairy Tri, Zelda obtains the Scepter of Tri that allows her to copy objects and monsters, and the player must use it to travel through Hyrule and conquer challenges.

Just Dance 2025 Edition will be released in October 2024.

The newest title in the Lego franchise is coming, this time it will be in the Horizon universe, with the machine hunter Aloy, the players' mission will be to save the world from an ancient evil.

Exploring the world it will be possible to recognize different locations inspired by the original game, and as you progress in the game Aloy will be able to help rebuild your home, there will be a wide variety of outfits to customize the main characters, the game will also feature a local cooperative mode of up to two players.

Winner in the “Best indie game” and “Best indie debut” categories, Stray will come to Nintendo Switch. Following a wrong jump, we must control a kitten in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk world, where only machines and hostile creatures live so that he can return to his family.

Two Ace Attorney spin-off games, including a sequel that had previously only been released in Japan, will be coming to Nintendo Switch together in a single collection.

In the game we control the prosecutor Miles Edgeworth, and outside the courtroom we must investigate crime scenes, interrogate people and examine the evidence to gather information, using the power of logic to solve the cases.

The game will have graphics remade by the series' original designer, but there will be the option to play with the original pixel art graphics.

From the creators of the Danganronpa and Zero Escape series, The Hundred Line-Last Defense Academy follows fifteen young students tasked with protecting a school against monsters for 100 days.

The Hundred Line-Last Defense Academy will be released in early 2025.

A remake of Romancing SaGa 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch, dominate and expand the Empire of Varennes over countless generations, making decisions that can alter the course of your journey, and face the legendary Seven Heroes, who have succumbed to darkness.

Completely in 3D, the game will be an RPG with characters and imperial succession, free narrative, and turn-based strategy combat, improved from the original system. With classic SaGa mechanics such as “Glimmers”, where the character learns new skills in the middle of battle, and “Formations”, which will provide exclusive benefits based on the team composition.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven will be released on October 24, 2024.

And, as the final cherry on top of this Nintendo Direct, Metroid Prime’s title was announced, the game will be an FPS, where we will control Samus Aran in an intergalactic war.

Not much is known about the plot, after the trailer it was said that the game is scheduled for 2025, and fans were asked to have a little patience and wait with anticipation for Samus' new adventure.
