The Witcher 3 will receive a free remastered version, while the Songs of the Past expansion gets a trailer and a 2027 release window.

CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will receive a free remastered version on September 29. The update will be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at no cost to existing owners. Pre-orders have also opened for Nintendo Switch 2.

The changes go beyond a visual upgrade. The studio confirmed adjustments to combat, Geralt's movement, mount controls and monster behavior. The skill tree will be reworked, while the transmog system will allow players to change the appearance of their equipment. Photo Mode will also be expanded.

The Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions will be included in the remastered package at no additional cost. As a result, all previously released The Witcher 3 content will be updated alongside the new version of the game.

During the same presentation, CD Projekt Red showed the first gameplay trailer for Songs of the Past, an expansion announced months ago. The video features a new chain weapon, which Geralt uses to pull creatures toward him before finishing them off.

The adventure will also take the witcher to Letten, a region described by the studio as seemingly peaceful but hiding a dark secret. Songs of the Past does not yet have a specific release date, with the expansion expected to arrive sometime in 2027.

The Witcher 3 remaster will launch first on the platforms announced for September, while the new Songs of the Past content remains scheduled for the following year.
