David Gaider is working with Owlcat Games on the story of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. In a Bluesky post, the writer said his work focuses on certain aspects of the RPG’s story. He remains involved in his own projects at Summerfall Studios.

Gaider is known for his work as lead writer on Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. After leaving BioWare, he founded Summerfall Studios, the developer behind the musical RPG Stray Gods. He is now working on another science-fiction game with a premise reminiscent of the Mass Effect series.

The invitation had personal appeal: Gaider said The Expanse is one of his favorite series and that he jumped at the chance to work on the game. He also praised the Owlcat team for its willingness to listen to fans, pointing to a recent change to the male version of the protagonist following audience feedback.

The Martian captain has been redesigned and is now voiced by Blythe Melin. Gaider’s involvement, however, does not mean he is leading the entire story of Osiris Reborn. He said his contribution is limited to certain aspects of the narrative, without specifying which ones.

For players following the project because of their interest in science-fiction RPGs, the news brings a writer associated with Dragon Age to The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. Neither Gaider nor Owlcat has said which parts of the story he has contributed to.
