Phantom Blade Zero sold 4 million copies in its first 72 hours on the market. Developer S-Game announced the figure and thanked players for their support since the wuxia-inspired action game launched.

The game also climbed Steam’s charts. Phantom Blade Zero ranked ahead of PUBG and Dota 2 and took the top spot among the platform’s highest-grossing games, surpassing Modern Warfare 4, Aion 2 and Probably Stolen. Concurrent players peaked at 833,921 on Sunday.

Even before launch, the game had sold more than 1 million copies across its launch platforms: Steam, PlayStation 5 and WeGame, Tencent’s PC digital storefront in China. Nearly two-thirds of those sales came from China, Taiwan or Hong Kong.

Despite its strong debut, Phantom Blade Zero fell short of Black Myth: Wukong, which sold 10 million copies in its first three days. The comparison puts the two Chinese action games side by side amid growing international interest in games from the country.

The cast of Phantom Blade Zero includes Roger Craig Smith in the lead role. He is known for voicing Sonic the Hedgehog, Ezio Auditore, Batman and Chris Redfield. Maggie Robertson, who played Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil 7, voices Mu Xiaokui.

Donnie Yen served as a creative consultant and plays Mó Yuan, Soul’s father, through facial, voice and motion capture. The game follows Soul through the Phantom World, a setting that combines action combat with wuxia-inspired elements.
