Square Enix has released a new trailer for Final Fantasy Resonance, an HD-2D turn-based RPG coming to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The video highlights the Warrior of Light, a Vision capable of fighting alongside the player.

The character description presents the world of Final Fantasy Resonance as the place where the crystal legacy was forged. At one point, the four elemental Crystals lost their light, leaving the region shrouded in darkness.

According to the game's story, a lone individual set out to dispel the dark veil. The Warrior of Light emerges as the champion foretold by an ancient prophecy, and players will need to forge a bond with him.

Visions will act as echoes of familiar characters from the Final Fantasy franchise and can strengthen the party throughout the adventure. The game will also feature a strategic combat system, a dramatic story, voiced cutscenes and voiced characters.

The journey will also include travel by Chocobo and airship, further expanding exploration of the world featured in the RPG. Final Fantasy Resonance was announced in June, when Square Enix revealed that the game was in development for both versions of Nintendo's console.

The game is scheduled to launch on October 22, 2026. The HD-2D adventure will come to Nintendo's platforms with a new story that draws on classic characters from the series, including the Warrior of Light as an ally in battle.
