The Pokémon Company has cancelled orders for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary cards following a cyber incident that may have exposed customer data. Reported cases involve purchases made through the Pokémon Center and appear to be limited to European orders.

Affected customers received emails stating that the incident involved CEVA, the logistics company used to deliver Pokémon Center products in the region. The company receives delivery-related information in order to ship purchases.

According to the notice sent to consumers, unauthorized parties may have obtained customers’ full names, postal addresses — including street, postcode, city and country — phone numbers, email addresses and details about the contents of orders placed through PokemonCenter.com.

Orders for the commemorative cards have been cancelled in full.

The number of affected buyers has not been disclosed. There has also been no explanation as to why the orders were cancelled rather than being offered an alternative delivery solution following the incident.

CEVA was also recently linked to a data theft case affecting Valve customers who purchased Steam hardware. In the case involving Pokémon Center products, the potentially exposed data relates only to information required for order logistics.

The incident comes amid strong demand for Pokémon cards, with new releases frequently selling out. Product shortages have also prompted retailers and distributors to take action against resellers, including opening product boxes in stores and imposing purchase limits in certain markets.

The Pokémon Company printed 10 billion cards over the past year, but demand for collections and rare cards continues to strain the availability of new products.
