Arc System Works has revealed the four characters joining Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls in its first year. Phoenix Cyclops will arrive first, followed by Thor (Jane Foster), Venom and Jubilee. The announcement was accompanied by artwork from Marvel illustrator Peach Momoko.Phoenix Cyclops arrives on November 2, alongside Classic and Legacy costumes for the character. The studio also gave release windows for the other fighters: Thor (Jane Foster) is due in winter 2027, Venom in spring 2027 and Jubilee in summer 2027. A Klyntar stage will launch alongside Venom.All four characters and the stage are included in the Year One Characters & Stage Pass, but they will also be available separately. Players who want just one fighter will not need to buy the full pass.In a PlayStation Blog post, producer Takeshi Yamanaka explained why the team chose the Phoenix version of Cyclops. He said the narrative team proposed that interpretation during discussions about the character. It gave the team room to explore different looks and a fighting style that includes Optic Blasts and gameplay elements tied to Dark Phoenix.Yamanaka also explained why Phoenix Cyclops was not in the launch roster. The team decided to keep working on him until it felt it had something new to add, saving him as the first character to arrive after the game’s release.Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is available now on PS5 and PC.
