Electronic Arts has completed its acquisition by a consortium made up of the PIF, Saudi Arabia's public investment fund, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners. The transaction was finalized following the regulatory approvals obtained in July.With the agreement, EA is no longer a publicly traded company. The PIF now holds 93.4% of the business, while Silver Lake owns 5.5% and Affinity Partners holds 1.1%. The latter was founded in 2021 by the company's CEO, Jared Kushner.EA shareholders will receive US$210 in cash for each common share they held at the closing of the transaction. The shares have stopped trading and will be delisted from NASDAQ.The change places EA under private control and opens a new chapter for one of the largest game publishers. The acquisition process had previously been announced in September 2025.Andrew Wilson, EA's chairman of the board and CEO, stated that the company enters this new chapter with partners who share its vision and ambition. According to him, the goal is to invest boldly, accelerate innovation, and develop the next generation of games and experiences for hundreds of millions of players and fans.Turqi Alnowaiser, deputy governor and head of international investments at the PIF, highlighted that the fund had already been a minority investor in EA for more than five years. He cited the company's global sports and gaming franchises, as well as its intellectual properties, as important pillars for the long-term partnership.Egon Durban, CEO of Silver Lake, also mentioned the potential of artificial intelligence to enhance game development and the player experience. Jared Kushner, meanwhile, stated that Affinity Partners intends to support EA in expanding audiences and ways of connecting through games.Through different investment firms, Saudi Arabia also holds stakes in companies such as Nintendo, Capcom, Take-Two, SNK, and Scopely.
