Marvel’s Wolverine will launch on PS5 running at 60 frames per second with ray tracing enabled on the standard console model. Insomniac Games also confirmed that New Game+ will be available from launch on September 15, exclusively for PlayStation 5.

Senior project director Jess Reiner-Reed said the team has created a more linear, narrative-focused adventure, while also including optional activities for players who want to explore beyond the main campaign. These include the Nightmare Doors, manifestations of the horrors lurking in Logan’s mind.

Scattered throughout the game, these doors will offer a variety of challenges and expand the experience beyond the main path. The title will also feature Mission Replay, allowing players to revisit completed missions. The feature should help those who missed collectibles and want to replay specific parts of the story.

New Game+ will let players retain previously unlocked gear and progression, as well as choose any suit for the new campaign. The mode will include several exclusive Adaptations designed to offer a different gameplay experience on a new playthrough.

On the technical side, Insomniac chief technology officer Mike Fitzgerald said the studio set out from the beginning to run Marvel’s Wolverine at 60 FPS with ray tracing on the standard PS5. Because that decision was made early in development, the team was able to build the game around that goal, which will be the default mode.

The combination of a narrative campaign, optional content and replayability features aligns with the studio’s technical vision. Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15, exclusively for PS5.
