The year 2026 is fast approaching and will be a landmark for gamers of all styles. We'll see sequels to historic franchises like Grand Theft Auto, as well as familiar faces from TV series and movies expanding into video games, such as Unbroken and James Bond!

With that in mind, we at UmGamer have compiled a list of eight games already confirmed for 2026. Check it out!

Resident Evil 9: Requiem

We see the potential of next year when we realize that one of the first major releases is a new title in one of the most classic gaming franchises! Resident Evil 9: Requiem arrives on February 27th for PCs and next-gen consoles. According to the trailer, the game aims to bring back a dark, investigative atmosphere.

The protagonist will be Grace Ashcroft, a technical analyst investigating deaths caused by the same pathology. However, the scene of one of the crimes is the Remwood Hotel, the same place where Grace's mother, Alyssa, was murdered eight years ago. The trailer suggests a major personal confrontation between Grace and her past – the game promises to maintain the tension and terror we love in the series.

007 First Light

One of the biggest icons in world cinema now wants to conquer audiences in the gaming world. 007 First Light will arrive for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 a month after the release of the first game on the list – March 27th. James Bond will receive an original story, independent of the movies, that tells the origin of the agent and how a young man became 007, the best of MI6.

The samples of frenetic action with shootouts, chases, and suspense raise fans' expectations regarding fidelity to the franchise. After all, it's everything that movie lovers were looking for.

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

Lego Batman is finally back in the hype! After more than a decade without new titles, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will arrive for next-gen consoles and PCs in 2026!

This title is another one that addresses the protagonist's origin, covering the story from when young Bruce Wayne was still training with the League of Shadows – before he called himself Batman. Legacy of the Dark Knight promises to maintain the comedic humor of Lego games and renews this classic formula with new gameplay mechanics – such as stealth combat – while developing a darker and more serious version of the bat hero – who is still at the beginning of his career and will have to build his credibility little by little.

The trailer features several scenes and lines referring to the films already known to fans, bringing even more anticipation for the release.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls

Marvel Tōkon is a new tag team fighting game based on Marvel characters - following the same style as 2XKOlink outside website. Developed by ARC SYSTEM WORKS, Marvel Tōkon brings a Japanese charm to this universe, and since PlayStation is the official publisher, it’ll only be released for Sony's console and PCs.

One of its distinguishing features is the 4v4 battle format, making them extremely chaotic with combos or quick exchanges between allies. And of course, the extensive cast of Marvel characters makes the game interesting from launch – featuring classic heroes and villains – and offers enormous potential for future updates for years to come.

Some of the personalities we can see in the trailer are:

  • Iron Man
  • Captain America
  • Spider-Man
  • Ghost Rider
  • Doctor Doom
  • Storm
  • Thor
  • Ms. Marvel
  • Star-Lord

    Invincible VS

Invincible VS is another 2D fighting game. Although there's no set release date, the title is confirmed for next year for the new generation of consoles – in addition to PC. The idea is to bring 3v3 fights with the original characters from the animated series!

The trailer has already made it clear that the production won’t skimp on the characteristic violence of Invincible. We see bodies being torn apart and pierced, massive explosions, and confrontations that destroy the scenery. This approach is a gift for fans of the series, who appreciate the fidelity, but it also serves as an important reminder: this is a universe not recommended for those under 18 due to its bloody and violent content.

Like the previous game on this list, Invincible VS seeks to offer strategic depth, allowing players to switch characters during the fight to create devastating combos and explore the unique abilities of each one. The expectation is that the game will capture the essence of the action that made the series a phenomenon.

    Marvel’s Wolverine

Another game not recommended for minors is Marvel’s Wolverine. Developed by Insomniac Games, the same company responsible for the Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, the game is scheduled for release in the Northern Hemisphere autumn – between September and December – of 2026.

The title should follow the same pattern as Spider-Man, featuring a main story alongside an open world with side missions, with possibilities to improve your character.

However, Insomniac Games shows that, in addition to exploring the gameplay nuances of another hero, it’s also concerned with conveying a new tone. It's a fact that most Wolverine fans are adults – unlike Spider-Man fans – and the focus on this other audience is evident in the trailer. The latest trailer shows brutal claw attacks and a darker, more violent atmosphere than the developer's other series – not suitable for children.

    Halloween

The classic horror film is finally getting a video game adaptation: Halloween will arrive on consoles and PCs on September 8, 2026!

As part of recent horror game trends, Halloween will feature the famous multiplayer mode – in the style of Dead By Daylight – where one user will control Michael Myers, aiming to kill the residents of Haddonfield before the end of Halloween night. Four other players will control civilians who must equip themselves – as well as NPC residents – with improvised weapons while searching for alternatives, such as an active phone to call the police.

A unique feature is that Halloween will also include a single-player mode, telling an independent story from Michael Myers' perspective.

    Grand Theft Auto VI

Obviously, it’d be impossible to make this list without mentioning GTA VI. The biggest launch of the year, and perhaps of the decade, already has a release date: May 26, 2026, and will initially arrive for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The game's plot will follow a criminal couple, Jason and Lucia, in the chaotic Vice City – a city inspired by Miami. You can learn more about the confirmed characters and locations, as well as an analysis of the two available trailers, in our article GTA VI: Everything we know so far about Rockstar's new gamelink outside website.

    Conclusion

Next year will feature productions ranging from light and creative humor with the return of Lego Batman or frenetic action like 007 First Light, to more violent or terrifying ones: this is the case with Invincible VS, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Halloween.

We’ll also have GTA VI, the biggest release of the decade so far! Expectations suggest that most different gaming niches will be satisfied in 2026.
