Final Fantasy XIV: Guide for Moogle Treasure Trove

In this article, we present everything you need to know about Moogle Treasure Trove, how to get the event coins and what are the best rewards to collect!

First, you need to know where the Moogles with the products are. They are all located right at the exit of the teleporter in each main city, just look for a moogle with a symbol over its head, like this one:

Activities

Mogpendium and You

During the event, there will be a book in the Duty > Collection > Mogpendium menu containing all the activities which will give out the event currency, as well as offering weekly challenges to be completed and the Ultimog Challenge!

The marked activities need to be done synchronized, that is, no taking your level 100 job and blowing everything up. But don't worry, not all activities are necessarily combat, giving you the opportunity to vary a lot so as not to get bored.

Ultimog Challenge

This season's Ultimog is Treasure Dungeons, and I’ve noticed that many people don't know how they work. They are a much more hidden content for those who are at the start of the game.

At first you need a map like this one:

They can be purchased from other players, through collection jobs and even the Moogle sells some. Keep in mind that you can only have one of these in your inventory at a time, but one way to get around this is to pick one up and open it, making it a quest item, so you can keep another closed one in your inventory.

It's good to remember that after it's opened, you need to complete it to open another one. If this is not possible, in the worst case, it will be necessary to discard the opened one to open another.

Going to your quest items, you will see a scroll and this will be your treasure map!

When interacting with it, a tip like this one will appear to you

With the tip in hand, just go to the location and use the /dig action. If the location is correct, a chest will appear. As soon as you interact with it, some monsters will appear, but be careful, they were designed to face a group of players at the same level as the map!

After dealing with the monsters, open the chest, and if you're lucky, a portal will appear and it will take you to the much dreamed about Treasure Dungeon!

Ocean Fishing

Among the activities, in addition to dungeons, raids and trials, deep sea fishing, aka Ocean Fishing, is also giving out these coins, as long as you score a modest score of 1,200 points.

This deep sea fishing works more or less like a raid, but for fishermen. In it, you'll have seven minutes to score as many points as possible in three different locations around Eorzia, traveling from Costa Del Sol to the cold coast of Coerthas.

To access this instance, simply complete the quest All the Fish in the Sea

, located in the fishermen's guild in the Lower Decks of Limsa Lominsa.

Once done, the instance can be accessed from the pier at the far west of the Lowers Decks, close to the Arcanists guild.

Ocean Fishing Tips

Ocean Fishing boats leave every odd hour in real life, and are available to access for 20 minutes. I recommend getting to the pier five minutes early

Depending on the weather conditions, places visited and other players, the trip may earn more or less points, so always have your best equipment and some bottles of Cordial or Hi-Cordial;

Before leaving for your trip, make sure to have at least 20 free spaces in your inventory and whenever you can, sell or discard fish so that they do not clog your inventory. These fish are not worth gil, so you can sell them to the NPC without fear;

During travel, an event called Spectral Current may occur once per stop. During a 2-minute window, all fish caught will give you many more points, so always keep a reserve of “mana” to use your skills and increase your points;

Always try to complete the side quests which appear in a window during the activity. It’s simple things like “Catch X fish with !”. This means that your team needs to catch X amount of fish with the pull of one “!”. Skills with Identical Cast and Slap Surface are great for manipulating your chances of getting what you want.

GATEs

GATEs are like FATEs, only without the usual carnage of these public events. They work like climbing mini games, dodging area attacks and there’s even a GATE that temporarily turns the game into an FPS!

GATEs only occur in FFXIV's Gold Saucer, and if you know the place from other games, you already have an idea of what it should be. To get there, just do the It Could Happen to You quest, located in Ul'dah, right outside the city's teleporter.

Inside the casino, pay attention to announcements made by GATE Keeper NPCs. As soon as one of these GATEs appears, just talk to an NPC and he will take you to the location;

Dungeons, trials, raids and PVP

You may have likely done one of these without even realizing it. In both Mogpendium and Duty Finder, you can see the list of which ones are offering these event coins

Rewards

Now that we know how to farm, let's find out what this event is offering. Right from the start, know that most of the event's items can be acquired through other ways, usually behind some absurd farm or a drop so rare that, if you ask me, I'll tell you that the item simply doesn't exist, give how much I’ve farmed and I never even saw anyone get it.

Event exclusives

The ring and earring can only be purchased during this event, so if you're like me and enjoy having this type of item, run and get it!

Haircut

It’s quite common to come across players who don’t know that there are additional haircuts to be acquired in game. Or even that there’s a haircut function in the game.

If you are part of this last group, know that to unlock the game's hairdresser, just go to the Upper Decks in Limsa Lominsa and do the quest Beauty is Only Scalp Deep

. After completing it, go to any Inn room and access the Crystal Bell.

Now that I've explained the basics, let's get to the item in question. Extra in-game haircuts can be acquired for any item that starts with Modern Aesthethics - (Insert name here). Its icon resembles a closed envelope. Once purchased, just use it and go to the hairdresser I mentioned before to get a fabulous makeover.

Mounts

Yes, there are mounts and they are not few. All of them can be acquired in other ways, but this event gives you the opportunity to skip farming them and get the gold right away.

Acquired through Innocent Gwib, for 50 event tokens

To acquire this dragon by other means, you need to do the Crown of the Immaculate (Extreme) in Shadowbringers, and hope it drops.

Acquired through Alte Roite Prism, for 50 event tokens

Normally, to acquire the Shenron we have at home, it’s necessary to do Deltascape V.4 (Savage) in Stormblood. At least its drop is guaranteed, and it can be farmed very quickly for everyone in a group

Acquired through the Drake Horn item, for 30 event tokens

This is the mount of the Society/Beast tribe of the Amalj'aa from ARR. Just do the daily until it reaches rank 4, and you can buy this mount for 120 thousand gil

This item can be purchased from other players or crafted. At the time of writing this article, it costs around 800 thousand gil on the Market Board.

Emotes

Yes! Just like haircuts, there’s a whole range of emotes to be collected in the game. Following the same logic, they all come through an item called Ballroom Etiquette - (insert emote here).

That's right, you stand there in this pose with a face like you're about to commit several crimes. That’s all. Typically, it’s acquired in Bozjan/Zadnor for 50 Clusters, or purchased from other players.

This one is a little more interesting. It’s a looping animation of the character talking and gesturing, as if it were spreading gossip, I mean, explaining the game's lore. Typically, it’s acquired from a Pyros-specific lootbox, a Stormblood Field Operation;

Clothing and Accessories

There’s an item being sold which is a small pack called the Casual Attire Coffer. When purchased and opened, you get an extremely casual set of shirt, shorts and sneakers.

This package can be purchased from other players, on the market board or won at Ishgardian Restoration.

Regarding the Shisui clothes, they are all drops from the level 63 dungeon Shisui of the Violet Tides, so I wouldn't spend a lot of tokens here, unless there's a piece you really want.

Triple Triad, Riding Maps and minions

Triple Triad cards depend solely on whether you intend to collect them. If collecting them all to get the mount is your objective, I recommend buying them, if not, you can save your tokens for other things

Riding maps, by default, are not worth much of your time. The only thing they offer is a small increase in the land speed of your mounts on a specific map, however, when you unlock the ability to fly, you go much faster. And no, these Riding Maps do not affect airspeed.

Minions are always welcome for the price of 7 tokens, good to get if you have nothing else you want.

Best farms

Now that we know what is available, and everything that can be done, let's move on to recommendations on what to do to get the tokens. First, stay up to date with Weekly Challenges and Minimog. Every week there will be new challenges, which together will grant you 50 tokens.

After that, if you're looking to acquire tokens fast, do Alexander - Fist of the Father, from the Heavensward raid set. This specific fight is very quick to do, as it's just a minion + a boss and it's over, without any major mechanics.

Another option is to farm the Gold Saucer GATEs, which occur every 10 minutes, and depending on the GATE and your score, can give up to 10 tokens.

If you want a calmer and more "passive" way, the MSQ roulette dungeons also offer a lot of tokens, but they are slow to do, in the same way as Ocean Fishing, where you fish in peace, as if you didn't want anything, and boom! Tokens in inventory.

Conclusion

If you are a free trial, or are at the beginning of the game, around ARR or Heavensward, this event is a golden opportunity to get items that you would normally only have a chance to unlock much later in the game.

If you're already a veteran, the Gold Saucer ticket offers 50k MGP for 30 event tokens, which is a bargain for farming if you don't have anything else to take from the event, not to mention the opportunities to make some gil by getting some more expensive items, such as the haircut and selling them after the event is over.

The Moogle Treasure Grove will be available until patch 7.1, which is scheduled to be released in mid-November, so farm without rush, as there’s still time.
