What’s Nightreign?

Elden Ring Nightreign is a spin-off of the acclaimed Elden Ring, set in an alternate timeline where an unknown force, once imprisoned, is unleashed after the Breaking of the Ring and dominates the world, unleashing an eternal night that consumes everything and everyone.

Centuries later, little remains of the world we know from the base game, now called Limveld. The only resistance against the advance of the Night Lord is the Round Table, which acts against this evil by summoning the Nightfarers, warriors from other worlds who must fight the night and liberate Limveld.

In Nightreign, you must choose one of the ten classes available in the game (considering The Forsaken Hollows DLC). Each class has a unique character with their own abilities to form a team with two other players, or to play in duos mode, to fight one of the Nightlords through expeditions.

Each expedition consists of three stages, which unfold like a day within the game. At the end of each day, you must face a boss, with the final day's boss being the Nightlord corresponding to the expedition.

This article will cover the game's single-player mode, where you must complete all of this alone. Therefore, we’ll detail the best strategy to platinum this game without needing a team.

Face the Night Alone

Before embarking on a solo expedition, there are a few things you should consider: which final boss you’ll face, which character and build to use, and what your route on the map will be.

Once you have this plan mapped out, the expedition will go much smoother. Some important information is available before the expedition, such as the boss's weakness, character abilities, and relic information for the build, but we’ll detail each of these points further below.

Best Characters for Singleplayer

There are ten different characters in Nightreign, but we'll focus on the three best for solo expeditions right now:

Wylder

The Wylder is possibly the most suitable character for those starting the game and one of the easiest to use. He's the classic Warrior, possessing an affinity for two-handed weapons and colossal weapons, with the ability to deal large amounts of damage in a few hits.

He has three abilities: one passive (conditional) and two charged abilities, one of which is his ultimate skill. His passive, Sixth Sense, allows him to resurrect once after death, which makes all the difference in a solo run, since you’ll essentially have three lives (the passive, the extra life the game grants in a solo run, and your final health bar). This is very useful, especially in boss battles.

His charged skills are Claw Shot and Onslaught Stake. Claw Shot is a fast-charging ability that can be used to close the distance to a target, making Wylder very versatile and agile in combat, allowing him to isolate enemies or move more quickly, as well as climb high terrain.

His ultimate is basically the Stake Driver from Bloodborne, modernized and adapted for this character. It’s an extremely destructive strike that can hit multiple enemies or break a boss's posture, opening up space for a visceral attack.

Executor

The Executioner is another very good character in single-player mode. His playstyle is very similar to what we see in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, possessing quite versatile abilities that allow him to manipulate combat in various ways and deal significant damage to enemies with his katana attacks.

He has three abilities, one passive and two usable. The passive is Tenacity, which grants a boost after recovering from status effects.

His activated ability, Suncatcher, basically consists of switching from the main sword to the executioner's other blade, allowing him to defend against any enemy attack with his second sword, offering combat very similar to that of Sekiro.

His ultimate ability, Aspects of the Crucible, was unfortunately not detailed in the original text.

Ironeye

Ironeye is the classic archer of the game, allowing for greater combat control thanks to his range, while also being able to deal significant damage. This is the character I most recommend, especially for first-time players, due to his great build versatility – being able to combine melee and ranged weapons due to his basic attributes – and also because of his abilities.

His passive ability allows him to find items dropped by enemies more easily, and his second ability, Marking, works very similarly to the Wylder's ability, allowing him not only to create a weak point on the target but also to control the distance between him and the enemy.

His ultimate, Single Shot, is also extremely powerful, hitting a target with a single strike that can break their guard and hit other nearby enemies, allowing him to eliminate multiple targets at once.

Dominating Limveld

Once you've chosen your preferred character and build, whatever your choice may be, the next step is to understand the map and its structure.

Limveld isn't as large as the Limgrave map and is quite similar in design, even though it's a completely new map. At the start of the game, you'll be dropped into a random location and, upon opening the interactive map, you'll see several structures.

It's important to memorize the icons of each structure and their actual appearance to help you orient yourself on the map while completing objectives. Each game, the map changes slightly, and so do the enemies, but the basic structure remains, and you can easily memorize that.

In the center of the map will always be the castle, a structure that's highly visible from various points and where you'll spend a good portion of your expedition most of the time. This is one of the main farming points on the map, in addition to guaranteeing good drops and having a strategic location.

Around the castle, observing the rest of the map, you’ll see Temples, Forts, Camps, Caves, Prisons, and Churches. The Temples, Forts, and Camps have a good number of weaker enemies and a boss, locations where you can equip yourself with various items and magical affinity (Holy, Fire, Lightning, etc.).

The Caves function similarly to the previous ones, but this is where you’ll look for weapon enhancement items – a very important mechanic in the base game that returns in Nightreign.

The prisons, or Evergaol, work the same way as in the base game, but in Nightreign they require a stone key to be opened, revealing a special boss that grants buffs or items. Farming prisons is another good way to level up in the game while finding buffs, and there are even builds focused on this.

Smaller churches, similar to those in Marika seen in the base game, are safe points on the map where you can heal and obtain flasks. They’re scattered throughout Limveld and always appear in fixed numbers per match. Larger churches function similarly to camps, and some have an underground level.

There are other structures you should be aware of, such as the Stone Towers, which contain items more aligned with magic, and the famous Shifting Earths, which act more as an event than a mere structure.

Shifting Earths completely changes the map, adding a new area that provides new enemies and items. Other similar events may occur, and you’ll always be notified when one is active.

Strategy and Objectives

Before starting the matches, it's important to prepare your build. There are several types of Relics, classified by color, which can be combined in the slots of the Chalices.

Combining relics can create extremely powerful builds, which will greatly help in the final battle of the expeditions.

Day 1

At the start of the expedition, your first objective will be to farm the smaller camps you find along the way. Look for large churches nearby and note the locations of the points where you can find weapons with elemental damage that can help against the Nightlord.

The bosses of large churches are the easiest to defeat and will provide the runes needed to level up. From level 4 onwards, you can venture into the castle or forts/camps, but it's recommended to secure weapon enhancement stones in the nearest cave. There will always be a cave in the flooded area south of the castle that contains a Troll as a boss and is quite easy to defeat.

In the castle, it's best to check if the enemies are Banished Knights or Crucible Knights, as both provide many runes and are more worthwhile than other enemies.

Day 2

Reaching the end-of-day boss at level 5 or 6 will allow you to start the second day at least at level 8. At this level, you can already farm the castle and field bosses. I recommend staying in the castle and starting with the lowest-level boss, working your way up to the terrace where the main castle boss will be.

This is also the ideal time to work on the Evergaol. You'll find stone keys in various places in Limveld, but mainly in the forts.

The main objective at this stage is to farm the strongest enemies to reach level 11 or 13 before the end of the day. Don't forget to secure the vessels in the churches to have a good number of heals and to buy Wending Grace from the merchant to get extra lives.

The Lord of the Night

If everything has gone well so far, you'll reach the final boss around level 14, which is a good average for the game.

As mentioned earlier, all night lords have an elemental weakness that is revealed before the expedition, in the expedition menu. Try to exploit this, either when creating your build or during the expedition, with the help of buffs and weapons that you can find around the map by defeating other bosses.

On the website Elden Ring Nightreign Wikilink outside website, you can find additional information about each boss, including other weaknesses that can be exploited.

O jogo libera as expedições conforme você avança.

Final Thoughts

There are still many other ways to explore and even break the game, depending on your character choice and build. It's important to remember to do the character quests – each character has their own, and they can be accessed through the Journal. Through these missions, you’ll receive special relics.

That concludes another article. Leave your questions, suggestions, criticisms, and/or compliments in the comments. Thank you for reading and until next time.
