Red Rooster is the debut game announced by Summer Eternal, a studio formed by developers who worked on Disco Elysium. The team describes the project as a “fiery,” physics-driven RPG that combines detailed worldbuilding with physics-based immersive sim elements.

Players take on the role of Redrick Roost, a white-collar criminal who becomes an arson investigator. He works alongside an opioid-dependent mathematician to investigate a mysterious series of fires. The incidents appear to be linked to Redrick’s brother, who serves as the city’s fire chief.

The game retains some traits associated with Disco Elysium, but takes a different direction. While ZA/UM’s RPG was known for a structure closer to that of a visual novel, Red Rooster focuses on physics systems and interaction with the environment, bringing it closer to the immersive sim genre.

The makeup of Summer Eternal is also drawing attention. Argo Tuulik, one of Disco Elysium’s writers, is part of the studio, as is Lenval Brown, who handled most of the game’s narration. Summer Eternal is one of the teams formed after ZA/UM’s breakup, a process that led several developers from the original studio to go their separate ways.

The official description also presents Red Rooster as a work set in an alternate history with a strong science-fiction element. The game also features an opioid-fueled mathematician and a bus driver armed with nunchucks among its characters, adding to the quirky tone of Redrick Roost’s investigation.
