Activision has revealed that Digital Legends is helping Infinity Ward develop the native Nintendo Switch 2 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The announcement marks the series’ return to Nintendo platforms after 13 years.

Founded in Spain in 2001, the studio became known for its work on mobile games and was acquired by Activision in 2021. Since then, Digital Legends has worked on several projects in the Call of Duty franchise, including Black Ops 6, Black Ops 7 and Warzone.

In an official announcement, Digital Legends said it is developing Modern Warfare 4 in partnership with Infinity Ward to bring the series to Switch 2 for the first time in more than a decade. The studio also said it will reveal more information toward the end of the Northern Hemisphere’s summer.

Activision has already allowed selected content creators and media outlets to test the Switch 2 version ahead of next week’s open beta. The first impressions have been relatively positive, with comments highlighting the game’s performance and support for mouse and keyboard.

The open beta for the Switch 2 version begins on 28 August 2026. The test period will include the “Entrenched” campaign mission and multiplayer, with cross-play support.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch on 23 October 2026. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition will arrive on the same day as the versions for other platforms, giving Nintendo players simultaneous access to the series’ new chapter.
