Kirby and the World Beyond was announced for Nintendo Switch 2 during Nintendo Direct. The latest game in the series is scheduled to launch in spring 2027, and its reveal trailer shows Kirby exploring colorful environments, battling enemies and discovering a region beyond the known world.The adventure follows Kirby as he races across green fields, leaps over logs and crosses bridges. As usual, he can inhale enemies to gain new abilities, which he can use both in combat and while exploring the open world.The trailer also showcases the return of the Sword Copy ability. With it, Kirby wields a sword similar to the Master Sword and can quickly climb vertically. King Dedede appears as a boss, with Kirby hurling him into a wall that seems to separate the environment from the horizon.The connection to Zelda becomes more apparent in the second half of the video. A sword upgrade, described as something that appears to be specific to Tears of the Kingdom, allows Kirby to cut down trees and open new paths. Kirby then breaks through the boundaries of the colorful environment and reaches an area that looks strikingly similar to Hyrule.What lies beyond this first world has yet to be revealed, but the trailer suggests that exploration will play a central role in Kirby and the World Beyond. The adventure will also be part of a celebration Nintendo is planning for the pink mascot's 35th anniversary.Kirby and the World Beyond will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. Nintendo has not yet announced the exact release date.
