A more than hour-long hands-on session with the Switch 2 revealed changes in the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The reimagining adjusts puzzles, enemy encounters and navigation to suit modern controls, while also adding shortcuts and contextual hints.

Link’s wallet now holds 200 rupees from the beginning, up from the Nintendo 64 game’s initial limit of 99. In Kokiri Forest, jumping across the stone platforms beside the shop no longer rewards players with five rupees. In return, new blue rupees have been scattered throughout the area.

The shop also now features a training scarecrow, used by a local resident to teach players how to improve their defenses. The challenge for obtaining the Kokiri Sword has also been changed: the chest has been moved from the corner of the room to a platform in the center, requiring a jump to reach it.

Inside the Great Deku Tree, a second chest in the slingshot room no longer contains a random recovery heart and now holds Deku Nuts. The Skulltulas have also received new attack patterns. When struck with the sword, they spin around and expose their undersides instead of simply revealing their weak points.

In Hyrule Field, Lon Lon Ranch has been integrated more naturally into the environment. Players can now see the horses from outside, while Peahats appear in more central areas of the field.

The preview also mentions a patch of cracked ground near the new enemies that looks suited for use with a bomb, but the list of changes ends before confirming what lies there. The remake is scheduled for release on November 5.
