11 bit studios has confirmed that Frostpunk will launch on Nintendo Switch on October 19, 2026. The version of the original game, released in 2018, has also received a demo on the eShop.

The announcement answers community requests that have built up over the years. The confirmation came during a broadcast dedicated to “everything about Frostpunk,” which also introduced Frostpunk 1886, a definitive version of the original title featuring “substantial new content,” slated for 2027.

In Frostpunk, players manage the last city on Earth in a world gripped by cold. Survival depends on managing the citizens and infrastructure, with decisions covering laws, resources and how society operates.

The city is built around a steam-powered generator used to withstand the low temperatures. Players must also explore the frozen wasteland in search of knowledge, survivors and supplies while trying to maintain the heat, which 11 bit studios describes as essential to life.

The Switch release will let players run the city away from other platforms, but the developer did not confirm a version specifically for Switch 2 in the announcement. The company also provided no further details about a possible update for Nintendo’s new hardware.

Frostpunk 1886 will follow a different schedule and is slated for 2027. 11 bit studios said it will share more information about the version in development diaries published on Steam. The original Frostpunk, meanwhile, arrives on Nintendo Switch on October 19, 2026, with a demo available on the eShop.
