Last week on the 5th, Apex Legends made season 23 available to fans. Known as From the Rift, the update brought a new mode, gameplay mechanics, as well as balancing and several other changes. But our focus today will be on the all-new Battle Pass.
There are two season passes, “Split 1” will be available for a little over 40 days, this is the time to complete it! After that, the game will begin “Split 2” with a new reward track.

We analyzed this new content in order to, in this article, share our first impressions of the From the Rift Battle Pass! Check it out!
How the Battle Pass works
Just like in other games, it’s a trail of items, in this case with 60 levels, where each one generally provides one or two items. They can either be free or not.
Battle Pass Versions
Usually, companies offer two pass models for their games, one free and one premium. Apex, though, has four versions: Free, Premium (950 Apex Coins), Ultimate (9.99USD) and Ultimate+ (19.99USD).
As we’ll see in the image below, each of them has a different number of rewards.
Note that, when purchasing the premium version or higher, depending on your progress, you can receive up to 1300 Apex Coins, more than enough to buy the premium pass again in split 2, without necessarily investing more money in the game, and continue like this in upcoming seasons, similar to Fortnite with V-Bucks.
But still, some players choose to buy the Ultimate, either because they want to spend the coins on other products or for more resources. In the case of Ultimate+, you will receive two exclusive variations of legendary skins.
Here, you will see which alternative is ideal in your case.
How to level up the Battle Pass
Leveling up once in the battle pass requires 10 stars, found mainly in challenges. These tasks are divided into dailies and weeklies
Every day, we’re introduced to a list of five missions, which give you between one and three stars, offering a full level if you complete them all.
In the same dailies tab, you can see an “infinite” task, which can be completed as many times as you want, it grants one star for every five thousand XP gained.
The weeklies, though, consist of longer challenges, but with a greater reward, ranging from five to ten stars. It’s certainly the main way to progress, be careful to always complete them.
Best free cosmetics
Unfortunately, out of all the 53 cosmetics, only 16 are part of the Free track. However, it’s clear that there are good items, especially for Lifeline, among these options.
Right at level two, we receive a Hungry Dog transition screen, with a rather eye-catching purple rift.
The thirteenth level offers us Lifeline's first cosmetic, the Holo How Yuh Feelin’?.
There are several emotes in this track, but none compare to the free On The Flipside, available to Crypto upon reaching level 22. The emote is shown in the video containing all the rewards at the end of the article.

The first and only free weapon skin comes when you reach level 32. Ectoplasmic Reductor brings an incredible charm to L-STAR, with a dye focused on pink, purple and blue, not to mention the beautiful plasma effects.
Honestly, this look, even though it's epic and free, brings even higher quality than other cosmetics on paid passes.
The look for Free-to-Play players is from Lifeline, it’s another cosmetic that focuses on the plasma theme.
Finally, my last highlight of the trail is a frame from the same Legend, called Transformative Essence.
Best premium cosmetics
The premium track adds glacial cosmetics, as you can see on the first level with the Vintage visuals Tundra Tracker and Cold Catastrophe for the Kraber weapon, in addition to the Under the Ice frame.
Still, it explores the plasma theme a little further, but with other tones, such as the golden details of the Plasma Imprint.
In case you liked the unlockable items in the first level, I'm sure that Glacial Shatter (level 36) and the Global Icebreak frame (level 37) will please you.
Other than that, the paid trail stands out for its legendary skins, the most acclaimed were Caustic's Toxic Alchemist, Ash's Frigid Gaze and the last cosmetic, Phase Crusher, for Mozambique.
Remembering that the Ultimate+ version provides two variants for the Caustic and Ash styles. They were very well received by the community, and I strongly recommend them to the innate players of these characters.

Is it worth buying the From the Rift Battle Pass (Split 1)?
I, in particular, am a big fan of more purple or bluish tones. I believe that if you have the same taste and are a Lifeline player, the free pass will satisfy you, without the need to pay for more rewards.

However, the diversity of styles offered on the paid trail, the very well-crafted Icy theme, and the increase in resource gains justify the purchase of the Premium or Ultimate pass. I believe it's worth buying the From the Rift Battle Pass (Split 1).
Ultimate+ also brought incredible skins, but only for Ash and Caustic, so I only recommend it to those who really use these Legends a lot, or who use many Exotic Shards, given that this track grants us 10 more of this expensive resource.
Remember that Battle Passes in any game require time to complete. If your progression does not reach the required level for that item, you will not receive it.
