The Infernal Hordes season is Diablo IV's fifth one, and just like all the others, it arrives with a new trail which provides some free rewards and some premium ones, which require the purchase of the Season Pass.

This content will remain in the game for a slightly shorter period of time, with two months and two days, between August 6th and October 8th, being the predecessor to Diablo IV's first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, which arrives when the fifth season ends.

We're playing the new Diablo IV update with the Premium (Accelerated) Pass, and in this article, we share our impressions of the Infernal Hordes Season Pass!

How Does the Season Pass Work

Similar to the season passes seen in other titles, we are faced with a reward track where the player needs to collect some type of resource such as experience to advance, unlocking a new item per level, some of these items being free. This season, as might be expected from the name itself, the rewards have a more infernal aspect, matching the Diablo theme.

It is also possible to purchase level progress for 200 Platinum.

How to level up the Season Pass

The main way to advance on the track is by gaining Favor, to do this, it is necessary to carry out the Season Journey missions.

This photo explains all the mechanics very well, the tasks are separated by chapters, in this case we are in the first one, you can see the objectives along with a reward: Smaller Favor. This will give you a little progress on the trail.

Chapter one offers 11 different missions, see in the “Chapter Rewards” section that, by completing 9 of them, you will be able to redeem some rewards in addition to unlocking the next chapter for free.

All rewards from this pass

The pass has 90 items, one for each level, 28 of which are free.

Free items

Among the free unlockable rewards are: 20 smoldering ash, 5 basic outfits, 5 weapon transmogrifications, 1 mount trophy, 1 title (prefix and suffix) and 1 Town Portal.

Smoldering ash is a resource used to evolve your character, see the options:

In addition to reaching a specific level on the track, to unlock them you must also reach a specific character level, to prevent players who buy advancement on the track from becoming stronger than you.

The basic outfits didn't catch my attention as much. Some weapon skins are very interesting, such as the Waning Sun Elderstaff for Druid, a level 15 reward.

Another highlight of the free rewards is the Into The Long Night Town Portal, unlocked at level 49. I feel like it differs a little from the others, due to having a more greenish hue, but it is a very well-made cosmetic.

Premium Items

In addition to those already mentioned, the premium track offers 10 armor transmogrifications (2 armor sets per class), 14 weapon transmogrifications (totaling 19 with the five free ones), 4 tombstones, 5 emotes (1 per class), 2 mounts, 2 riding armor, 5 riding trophies, 2 titles (2 prefixes and suffixes), 700 platinum (distributed between 11 reward grades), 2 Town Portals and 3 emblems.

Activating the premium pass costs 1000 Platinum (USD9.99), but since we get 700 platinum back from it, you will have a discount if you want to purchase an upcoming pass from another Season, since you’ll only be 300 Platinum short.

Moving on to cosmetics, this is one of the best, if not the best, in the entire game. As already said, the infernal theme makes a lot of sense with the game, and it was very well put to work here.

The main highlights are the “Arch-Enemy” items, which include weapons, armor, other clothing and mounts. Everyone in this line is incredibly eye-catching.

Starting with the weapon visuals, the ones I found most interesting are: Risen Archenemy Stave (Druid), Risen Archenemy Dagger (Sorcerer, Druid, Rogue and Necromancer), Risen Archenemy Axe (Druid, Necromancer and Barbarian), Risen Archenemy Saber (All Classes) and Risen Archenemy Scepter (Sorcerer and Necromancer).

The Awoken Archenemy Mantle armor set (available for all classes) is definitely my favorite cosmetic, next to the Awoken Archenemy Barding.

There are also some other outfits from this cosmetic line, such as the Archenemy’s Malice (Sorcerer and Necromancer).

There are still other incredible cosmetics besides the Archenemy line, such as the Accursed Threshold Town Portal and the Heretic's Banner.

Accelerated Season Pass

If you've already looked into the premium pass, you know that there are two possibilities, the 1000 Platinum one already mentioned, and the Accelerated one which costs 2800 Platinum (USD24.99). In this case, you will have two extra benefits: 20 Jumps (levels) already unlocked just by activating the pass, and the “Infernal Birthright” emote.

Is it worth buying the Infernal Hordes Season Pass?

Many members of the community believe this to be the best Diablo IV pass ever released, and I agree. The items are extremely well-made and have an incredible thematic.

I believe that any Diablo fan should like this atmosphere of flames and fire, so I feel that, if you can afford it, you can buy it without the slightest problem, and you will be well rewarded. I love doing the missions while collecting cosmetics from this theme at each level.

Given my highlights, if you want, you can draw your own conclusion by watching all the pass rewards in this video:
