Steam has begun beta testing a new way to organize achievements. Developers can now group them into sets, letting players track their progress through different parts of the same game separately. The sets can reflect how a game is structured, covering its single-player campaign, multiplayer, classes, modes, seasons or expansions. Achievements still unlock as before; what changes is how they appear on the game's page. Each set has its own progress bar, and earning every achievement in a set awards a completion trophy on the player's profile. The completion remains on record even if new achievements are added later.Steam distinguishes between sets for the base game and those tied to additional content. Base-game sets appear in blue and contain achievements available to everyone. Expansion sets count toward a player's progress only when they have access to the relevant content. Once purchased, they appear in purple and can be tracked separately.Achievements and sets from seasonal events can also be archived. Players who unlocked them will retain the record on their profiles after the events end.The redesign includes an achievements page accessible through the library and the games list on the web version. It shows overall progress, progress by set and individual achievements, with an option to display the percentage of players who have unlocked each one. The “Perfect Games” tab will be renamed “Completed Games” and will include both games completed in full and games with completed sets.Store and library pages will show which games support the new system. Because developers must organize the achievements themselves, sets will not automatically appear across every player's library. To try the feature, players need to opt into the beta through the Interface tab in the Steam app's settings.
