Steam had its best September on record, with estimated revenue of US$1.7 billion in 2026. The figure represents 13% growth over the previous record, set in September last year, according to Rhys Elliott, head of market analysis at Alinea Analytics. The performance reinforces an upward trend for Valve’s platform. Steam also had its best third quarter ever, generating US$5.5 billion between July and September, up 12% year over year. As a result, revenue for 2026 reached US$16.5 billion in the first nine months, compared with US$14.5 billion during the same period in 2025.Alinea Analytics estimates that Steam could surpass US$20 billion in annual revenue for the first time. The result will depend on the release schedule for the remaining months of the year, which Elliott described as particularly strong.Among September’s releases, Wardogs was the biggest standout, generating an estimated US$86.9 million on Steam. Even so, Elliott noted that Arc Raiders and Helldivers 2 had longer-lasting cycles of buzz and virality. By that point, Helldivers 2 had generated US$130 million on the platform, while Arc Raiders had reached around US$125 million.Other notable releases during the month included Onimusha: Way of the Sword, with US$30.4 million; The Blood of Dawnwalker, with US$26.9 million; Bodycam, with US$24.2 million; and EA Sports FC 27, with US$20.7 million. The growth seen this year also reflects strong sales of games already available in the catalog, as well as major releases such as Forza Horizon 6 and Resident Evil Requiem. October’s release schedule already points to a steady run of launches capable of keeping Steam’s momentum high through the end of 2026.
