Electronic Arts has detailed a broad overhaul of Career Mode in EA Sports FC 27. According to the company, the changes affect negotiations, player development, artificial intelligence, squad management, and season simulation, in one of the mode's biggest updates since the end of the FIFA era.

The main highlight is the new transfer market, developed in partnership with TransferRoom, a platform used by professional clubs. Signings will now involve more steps: before an offer can move forward, managers will need to gauge the interest of both the selling club and the player. Negotiations can progress, change direction, or even be halted by competing bids.

[m]Player values will also no longer be practically fixed.[/m] The Expected Transfer Value system, or xTV, calculates how much each player is worth on the market and makes figures more dynamic over the course of a career. EA has also replaced 3D conversations with a 2D interface designed to make information easier to follow and show how close a negotiation is to being completed — or falling through.

Club AI should also have a greater influence on the market. Each team will have its own identity, with some prioritizing prospects and others seeking players who are already established. Historic rivalries may make agreements between clubs more difficult, while teams within the same corporate group will find it easier to do business.

Another important change is Dynamic OVR. Rather than representing an almost permanent level, overall ratings may fluctuate during the season based on performance, morale, physical condition, and other factors. A player in great form can temporarily receive a higher rating, while injuries, lack of match sharpness, and poor results can lower their numbers.

Morale will directly affect performance, and the new Match Fitness indicator will show how prepared a player is to take the field. Even if cleared by the medical staff, a player may face a high risk if they return too soon.

Career Mode will also receive community-created custom challenges, revamped press conferences, more realistic injuries, player development profiles, and new rivalries in Player Career mode.
