Remedy’s revenue rose 226% following the September launch of Control Resonant. The company reported third-quarter revenue of €39.6 million and an operating profit of €0.6 million, compared with an operating loss of €16.4 million in the same period a year earlier.

CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon called the results a milestone for the company. Control Resonant became the fastest-selling game in Remedy’s history, passing one million copies sold shortly after launch and outpacing the early sales of Alan Wake 2 and the original Control.

The game’s reach helps explain why Remedy sees room to grow. Nearly half of Control Resonant’s players were new to the franchise. The company said attracting those players was one of its goals for the launch, and early results point to a larger audience for both the series and the studio.

The United States accounted for nearly half of Control Resonant’s PC and console players, followed by Chinese-speaking regions and the United Kingdom. Interest in the new release also boosted its predecessor: 2019’s Control sold more copies during the quarter than it did in either of the first two quarters of this year or in the same period last year.

Gaudechon said Remedy’s focus now is to bring Control Resonant to more players. He believes the game’s performance has laid a foundation for the company’s growth as other projects remain in development, including the remake of Max Payne 1 & 2.
