The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta on PS5 will let players try a campaign mission for the first time in the series' history. Titled Entrenched, the solo mission will be available alongside multiplayer maps and modes.

Activision also previewed the mission in a video. The test marks a shift from the traditional Call of Duty beta format, which has typically focused on competitive play.

Early access begins on August 21, 2026, and runs through August 25 for those who pre-order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. During that period, players will have access to five new multiplayer maps, nine modes and the Entrenched mission.

Those who do not pre-order will be able to take part in the open beta from August 28 to September 1. This phase includes all early-access content and adds more multiplayer maps and modes.

The open beta will also provide access to Zodiac, the new Warzone Resurgence map. It will be the only part of the test with the Warzone map available.

Adding a single-player mission expands the scope of the test and allows players to sample part of the campaign ahead of the full release. Until now, early access to Call of Duty has been limited to online modes.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be released for PS5 on October 23, 2026.
