Steam’s Personal Calendar has graduated from Steam Labs and is now a full feature of the store. Valve announced the move for a tool that was already available during testing and brings recently released and upcoming games together in one place.Rather than offering a general list of releases, the calendar aims to show games tailored to each user’s interests. According to Valve, it looks at games you’ve played recently and finds users with similar playtime patterns. It then checks which games those users are playing or adding to their wishlists to make recommendations. The system refreshes its data every day, though that does not mean the selection will change overnight. Valve says new games are more likely to appear as the calendar’s eight-week window moves forward or as games receive firm release dates. That makes the tool useful for finding something that has just come out as well as keeping track of what is on the way.The Personal Calendar’s move to an official feature comes amid other changes to Steam. The previous month, Valve announced a change that would make the homepage’s discounts and events section more algorithm-driven. For the calendar, the company has not announced any change to how it works as it leaves Steam Labs; the difference is that it is now formally part of the store.Via Rock Paper Shotgun.
