Final Fantasy VII Revelation will feature three-character synergy attacks, but they will not be available throughout the entire campaign. According to director Naoki Hamaguchi, the feature will appear only at specific moments to prevent battles from always revolving around the most powerful move.

The synergies expand on a mechanic introduced in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, in which two party members combine their abilities in cinematic attacks. In Rebirth, these techniques require two charges from the BTA gauges and provide a way to coordinate characters during battles. Revelation will add the ability to bring three party members together in a single skill.

Hamaguchi explained that making the trio attacks available at all times could make the two-character options less appealing. Since a combination of three characters would naturally be stronger, the team decided to tie it to specific sections of the game. The combat system will already include regular abilities, synergies and Limit Breaks.

The characters who will be able to form the trios have not yet been revealed, nor has it been explained how these abilities will be activated. For now, the only information available is that they will not function as a feature that can be freely used in any battle.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation will also feature a hard mode available from the start, a less demanding platinum trophy and the return of the piano minigame. On PlayStation 5 Pro, the game will support 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. Square Enix also plans to release additional content after launch, including DLC focused on Sephiroth and Vincent Valentine.

The game is scheduled to launch on 8 April 2027 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, Windows Store and Epic Games Store.
