Square Enix announced during PlayStation's State of Play presentation this Thursday (3) that Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final game in the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, will launch on PlayStation 5 on April 8, 2027. The game was revealed with a new gameplay trailer showcasing updates to the combat system and open-world exploration.

Described as the "epic finale" to the story that began in Final Fantasy VII Remake and continued in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the game introduces the FITS (Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear) system, which lets players customize each character's fighting style with four specialized uniforms: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage and Summoner. Each FITS outfit changes the characters' abilities and appearance, as shown by Cid wearing Knight and Vincent wearing Summoner. Combat also features a dynamic character-switching system during exploration, allowing players to instantly switch between party members as they travel through the world.

Exploration has been expanded with the addition of the Highwind, the franchise's iconic airship, which allows players to fly over the open world on an "unprecedented" scale. The chocobo Piko returns as a mount and combat ally, gaining new abilities as the party grows stronger. A new grappling-hook device has been added to help players scale rooftops and navigate the city more nimbly. Players will also be able to choose which character takes on certain missions, directly affecting the story's progression and specific scenes. The Queen's Blood minigame, a hit in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, returns with a new campaign focused on Red XIII, featuring new opponents and challenges that expand the card game's strategic mechanics.

You can check out all the new details in the video below:

Pre-orders are already available on the PlayStation Store, with the exclusive Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia bonus available to everyone who pre-orders. The game will have two premium editions: the Premium Edition, which includes the base game, a Season Pass with two story DLCs and 24-hour early access, as well as accessories and consumable items; and the Premium Plus Edition, which adds a digital art book, digital soundtrack, Summon Materia Polydroid Alexander, Nymphwing Bracelet armor and Risk Taker's Choker accessory.
