Firaxis has announced that Civilization 7 will receive the free Arc of Tomorrow update in 2027, adding a fourth Act and extending the game's timeline from 1950 to 2050.

The expanded era addresses a gap in the current campaign. While Civilization 7 allows players to drop atomic bombs using World War II bombers, its modern era ends in 1950. Technologies such as nuclear submarines and intercontinental ballistic missiles are not yet part of the game.

Arc of Tomorrow will be larger in scope than the Test of Time update, released in May, according to Firaxis. The studio has not yet detailed all the new features, but confirmed an expansion of nuclear gameplay, with new units and a change described as a fun twist on the logic of mutually assured destruction.

Atomic-era diplomacy will also receive its own options. Players will be able to call for nuclear disarmament or ramp up warhead production, bringing the so-called doomsday clock closer to midnight.

The roadmap for the next 12 months was unveiled alongside Civilization 7's 1.5.0 update. Additions in the patch include improvements to resource generation and an Earth map where each faction starts in its historically corresponding location.

Firaxis also announced Earthrise, Civilization 7's first expansion.
