Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch on October 23, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The game will feature a campaign, multiplayer and DMZ, an extraction experience with PvPvE elements.

The launch will take place in stages. Eligible digital buyers can already access the campaign as of October 16, while DMZ entered early access on October 20. On October 23, the campaign, DMZ and multiplayer will be available to everyone who purchases Modern Warfare 4. The Standard and Vault digital editions include early access, while physical versions will launch with the full release.

The campaign will feature 16 missions set during a conflict on the Korean Peninsula. Soldier Park Hyun Jun and Captain Price lead separate narrative threads, which also take players to Paris, New York and Mumbai.

In multiplayer, Infinity Ward is focusing on more measured movement and precision gunfights. The launch includes 12 core maps for 6v6 matches, Gunfight arenas and larger areas designed for Ground War. The Shipment map will be released on October 27, followed by the Possession mode on October 29 and Infected on October 30. The first season and integration with Warzone will begin on November 6.

DMZ pits players against AI-controlled enemies and other participants during the same operation. The goal is to complete missions, gather resources and escape Hajin alive, a setting tied to the campaign. Players can go solo or form a squad, choose story missions or dynamic operations, or freely explore the map.

Between matches, the Forward Operating Base brings together inventory, weapons and upgrades. A successful extraction preserves the resources being carried, while a defeat can cause players to lose equipment. Earned experience is retained, and the missing-in-action operator system allows players to recover characters using in-game resources.
