Clutch, the open-world racing game from Maverick Games, has found a new publisher: Focus Entertainment. The project is being developed by a studio made up of former members of the Forza Horizon team and is slated for release on PS5.

Maverick Games had previously struck a deal with Amazon to publish Clutch, but the agreement fell through. Focus is now taking on that role and will support the studio's new IP.

Vincent Chataignier, deputy CEO of Focus Entertainment, said the company is looking for creators capable of redefining their genres. In his view, Mike Brown and his team are among the standout creative voices in racing games.

“Mike Brown and his team are considered one of the defining creative voices in the racing genre, and CLUTCH represents exactly the kind of creative ambition that Focus Entertainment wants to support.”

Mike Brown, founder and CEO of Maverick Games, said the studio was established with the goal of creating the open-world racing experience his team had envisioned for years. According to Brown, Focus shares the same high creative standards and ambition for Clutch.

The campaign follows a pair of siblings at the height of competitive motorsport. At the same time, they are drawn into the dangerous world of illegal street racing.

Clutch's open world is inspired by the French Riviera and will feature licensed vehicles. Some of these cars will be able to receive unconventional upgrades, such as grappling hooks—an element that has already divided racing game fans.

With Focus Entertainment as its publisher, Clutch is taking another step toward its PS5 release.
