Capcom has begun releasing videos showcasing new features for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance's 14 weapon types. The game's first expansion is scheduled for 2027. The promotional campaign began with the Great Sword and is expected to receive a new video each day through September 15, the start of the Tokyo Game Show.

The main new feature introduced is the Boosted Actions system, which is available for every weapon type. The mechanic is tied to the Boost Bracer, a new hunting action that enhances each weapon's abilities during Master Rank.

According to Capcom, players charge the Boost Bracer by maintaining an aggressive attacking stance. Once the gauge is full, they can activate Boost with a special attack called Boost Driver or through weapon-specific actions. The enhanced state unlocks new combos and powered-up attacks.

In the Great Sword video, the demonstration shows three ways to enter the Boosted state: using Brace Boost, a slower move that deals heavy damage; activating Quick Boost, which shifts the hunter into a specific stance; or performing a particular combo. The presentation also suggests that there are three charges, although the number may vary depending on the weapon.

Other footage highlights changes to different weapons. The Hammer is shown with moves focused on perfect guards and an offensive response similar to a shoryuken. The Charge Blade, meanwhile, features a counterattack described as a “hadoken.” The Great Sword also gains new aerial options.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam. A version for Nintendo Switch 2 is in development, while Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is scheduled to launch in 2027.
