The eighth Season of Diablo IV, Belial’s Return, marks a new era for the game's Battle Passes. Blizzard split the pass in four, changing everything from its organization and the way to buy the premium version to the items given.

In addition, just like in every Season start, new exclusive cosmetics came to renew the track. In this article, you’ll understand what’s changed and learn about all the new rewards, both free and paid. Check it out!

How Reliquaries Work: The New Diablo IV Battle Pass

As soon as you enter the Battle Pass tab, now called Reliquaries, a big change in the interface is immediately noticeable. You’ll now have access to four different sets of items, one being free for everyone and three premiums, and each premium track also provides a free item.

There are three premium options, each focused on a type of cosmetic, you can buy them separately, but you can also get them all at once by purchasing the Premium Battle Pass Bundle for 1000 Platinum - the same price as the previous pass.

Buying just one track can be a viable option for those who want to spend less on the game or just rather collect a single type of cosmetic. However, adding up all the premium sets - Weapons, Beasts and Armor - the total price comes to 1500 Platinum, so it’s best to buy the bundle to get a discount.

As mentioned, each option offers a selection of cosmetics, see the example below regarding the Belial’s Return Reliquary (free).

Note that there’s no linear track like before, each item has a price to be released, collect Favors - the battle pass currency - by completing quests and killing monsters to buy the reward you want. We can prioritize a mount or a specific class weapon without going through dozens of levels with prizes that don't interest us.

The only reward that behaves differently is the last one, which is locked and has a star. It’s a part of the Battle Pass’ final armor, and will only be unlocked when you also unlock all the items in that Reliquary - each one provides a piece of the armor. In the free pass, it’s the gloves.

One downside is that there’s been a reduction in Platinum, with just 200 being scattered on the free tracks and not a single one more on the premium tracks. Apparently, there’s also a smaller number of cosmetics.

The Starcrossed set is amazing, from the Town Portal to the Weapons and the Mount Armor, making the Free Pass fascinating. The shades of blue and yellow work very well together. Check it out:

Obviously, the aforementioned Deceiver's Gloves are a more than positive point for the free Reliquary.

On the other hand, I felt that the Free Mount lacked great details, it’s just a simple recolor.

This set offers six Deceiver’s weapons, with an excellent design that matches the final armor. Here are some of them:

The available mount is Mendax, Beast of the Deceiver. Out of the recent ones, it’s certainly one of the most eye-catching, Mendax deserves your attention.

Is the Season 8 Battle Pass - Belial’s Return worth buying?

Overall, the changes were very positive. I feel that there are fewer rewards available, but there’s still large amounts of armor, weapons and other types of relevant cosmetics. The 1000 Platinum Bundle is really interesting, the visual styles are very well done, and it’s worth it if you can afford it.

The Deluxe version doesn’t bring items that match the 2800 Platinum requirement, paying more than double just to receive two exclusive items isn’t an attractive option. But, obviously, they’re unique and incredible cosmetics, if you love collecting and can afford it, it makes sense to buy them.

The final decision will always be personally yours to take, but I hope this article’s helped you understand more about the Battle Pass revamp and know whether it’s worth buying. I’m available for any questions or suggestions.
