Rayman Legends Retold was named the best Nintendo Switch 2 game at Gamescom 2026. Ubisoft's reimagined platforming adventure received the award ahead of its October 1 release on Nintendo's console.The game competed in the category against Denshattack!, Mega Man: Dual Override, Nintendo Switch Sport Resort and OPUS: Prism Peak. According to Gamescom, winners were selected by a jury of industry professionals as well as community voting.The Rayman team celebrated the result in a message posted during the event. “We are extremely proud to announce that Legends Retold has won the Gamescom award for Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game. Thank you to everyone who showed their love and passion for our limbless hero this week in Cologne,” the team said.Ubisoft also released a new Rayman Legends Retold video, this time focused on the musical stage “Macarena.” The level takes Rayman to the Glade of Dreams in a version featuring references to a well-known dance, as well as elements tied to Italian pasta. The footage shows the character sliding, jumping and smashing through obstacles in time with the music.The award puts Rayman Legends Retold among the highlights of this year's Gamescom. The event also recognized Alien: Isolation 2 for best audio, Onimusha: Way of the Sword for best gameplay, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered for best trailer and Sega for best lineup.Rayman Legends Retold will be released for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 1. Ubisoft has not yet announced other platforms for the title.
