Unlocking Cosmic Exploration

  • First of all, this is Post-Endwalker content, so you’ll need to have completed the final Endwalker quest, which carries the name of the DLC.
  • If you’ve already completed it, teleport to Old Sharlayan and go east of the Aetheryte in Scholar Harbor, look for a Loloporrit in red. He’ll start the questline that’ll take you to the area where the activities are.
  • You'll also need to have a Gatherer (Botanist, Fisher or Miner) or one of the many crafters at least at level 10.
  • If you don't have a crafter and want to start playing as one, read our Complete Crafter's Guidelink outside website!

  • One thing that happened to me is that the game doesn't make it very clear how to get back to the area once you make it there. To get back to Sinus Ardorum, go to Bestway Burrows in Mare Lamentorum, turn south and come here and talk to the Drivingaway:

    Activities

This tablet will be your best friend around here
This tablet will be your best friend around here
  • As you can see, this activity uses two types of coins. The one on the left, Cosmo Credits, you use to buy clothes and such, while the one on the right, Lunar Credits, is used to buy an application for the activities or spin the wheel of fortune.

    Crafters

  • For those of you who are crafters, I’m very glad to say that you won’t need to buy materials. Yes, the quest itself that you activate will give you the resources necessary for crafting!
  • With the crafter in hand, click on the tablet that’s on the screen and enter the Stellar Missions menu:
The missions are different every time you finish one

  • As soon as you decide which mission you're gonna do, a new menu will appear on the tablet, which’ll contain the items for production and the recipes:
To return to this menu, just click on Stellar Missions again
To return to this menu, just click on Stellar Missions again
  • The production of the mission items is just like any other you've ever done. In the more advanced missions, such as the A-class ones, they enter the territory of Expert Recipes, which work as Endgame content for crafters, and if you don't have top-notch equipment, I wouldn't recommend trying to do them.
  • It's also worth mentioning that the missions adapt to your level, so be careful when using macros if you're leveling up!
  • To unlock the more advanced missions, follow the requirements that appear at the bottom of the mission list.

    Gatherers

  • Just like when using Crafters, open the Stellar Missions. The difference here is that you’ll have to go to the gathering points, however, thanks to the efforts of the players who were the spearheads on this, we now have transportation with hoverboards through the zone:
These portals work as a kind of fast travel and help save a lot of time

Pay attention to the lines on the maps. Each of these points where the line is cut are substations you can jump into, and the green area is where the mission I selected is located

  • It's worth noting that the gathering missions have a relatively short time to be completed, so bring some Cordials to recharge your GPs if you plan on doing a lot of them.

    Mech Ops

Mech Ops work similarly to Critical Engagements in Borjza/Zadnor. At some point, a notification will pop up that pilots are needed and on your tablet, in the Mech Ops menu, you'll find a button to sign up.

  • To register you need to have an application, which works like a token that’s spent every time you’re called to pilot one of the available mechas. To get one of these, talk to Alerot and buy it for 1,000 lunar credits:
It's very close to where you should find everyone working
It's very close to where you should find everyone working
Window with information about one of the Mech Ops
Window with information about one of the Mech Ops
  • If you’re chosen, a cutscene will start in which you enter the machine and fly to the event area. In the event, just use the skills from the new bar that’ll appear on nearby targets, such as crystals or some pink pillows.

  • Completing one of these events as a pilot gives you a ticket that allows you to play the wheel of fortune, which can get you a mount, materias and much more. For me, I got nothing but furniture, and they say that sharing this article brings good luck.
  • If you can't enter as a pilot, you can go and offer field support on foot. When you get to the area, click to enter the event. It's the exact same button we use to enter a FATE.
  • Your bar’ll be replaced and this one skill will be used to progress in the event. To do so, simply go to a smaller version of what the players in the machines are destroying, like the ones in the pictures above, and use the skill from the new bar that’s appeared.

    Red Alert!

To your battle stations! I mean, tools in hand! Red Alert is an event that happens from time to time, on average every 4/5 hours, and changes the scenario, requiring the participation of a lot of the players in the instance, to the point that even the weather in the place changes; for example, a meteor shower happens and then they need to rush to fix things.

  • It’s worth mentioning that during Red Alert only some jobs can take part, and in the event menu itself you can see where each job’s needed
For example, here we didn't need any Botanist or Fisher, but I've seen cases where the Blacksmith wasn't necessary

  • Just like the Stellar Missions for gatherers, during Red Alert, crafters must go to the designated area to be able to deliver the missions, and speaking of which, on your tablet, within the Stellar Missions Menu, there’ll be a new subdivision with the Red Alert missions:
Just go to the Critical Missions subdivision

  • These missions offer many more rewards than the common ones and help out a lot in the progress of the Cosmic Tools, which’ll be our next topic!

    Rewards

Since no one’s here to do charity work, Cosmic Exploration has a pretty cool range of cosmetics, which can be purchased through Cosmic Fortune and Cosmocredits.

  • For the measly sum of 1,000 lunar credits, you can spin a wheel and hope that whatever you want comes out. It's pretty simple:
As usual, I got two bottles of juice and a pat on the back...

  • But within the winnings table, there's a heavily Star Trek-inspired outfit, a mount, a selfie emote, and aviator sunglasses.

  • I'll make a little addendum here about the mount for making all the tools. It's an achievement that gives you a black variation of the Vacuum Suit I’ve shown you.

    Cosmic Tools

  • Cosmic Tools are the job’s Relics. In short, they’re tools that you improve over a sequence of missions, and get ready to farm a lot in them.

  • Unlike other relics, these tools start at level 30, and you can level up along with it!

    Cosmic Research

  • As you complete Stellar Missions, you collect analyses, which are entered and exchanged for the next stage of the tool. To do this, talk to Researchingway, in the center of the map.
  • It’s worth mentioning that each job has its own research count, so you can’t use one crafter to make another's tool.
Researchingway menu. Once you have enough points, just upgrade the tool

    General Tips

  • If you want to go after the relics, focus on just one. On top of generating more Lunar Credits if you use it, when you finish fully upgrading one of the tools, you get a research bonus to make the others! It reminded me a lot of the Armory bonus we use to level up combat classes.

  • It's good to remember that you don't need to be a very high crafter/gatherer to enter! This may not be the fastest method, but it doesn't cost anything!
  • All the tips and buffs I mentioned in the Crafting Guidelink outside website apply here!

    Conclusion

Cosmic Exploration represents a breath of fresh air for those who enjoy the crafter and gatherer life in Final Fantasy XIV. In addition to offering a unique setting and incredible cosmetic rewards, it’s accessible, fun, and features a system that follows in the footsteps of Ishgardian Restoration.

Whether you’re a veteran looking for the new relic tools or a curious newbie, this content is a great way to earn XP and cosmetics. So get your tools ready, adjust your helmet visor, and good luck on your journey through the stars!
