Edit reference

Dispatch is a superhero workplace comedy and narrative adventure game developed by AdHoc Studio, a Los Angeles company founded by former Telltale Games writers and directors. The game follows Robert Robertson, better known as Mecha Man, after the destruction of the mechanical suit that supported his superhero career. Without his armor, Robert is moved from frontline heroics into an office position at a superhero dispatch center.

Robert's new task is to manage the Z-Team, a group of former supervillains being rehabilitated for heroic work. Instead of placing the player in control of a conventional superhero who solves every problem through combat, Dispatch centers its premise on personnel decisions. Players decide which Z-Team members should answer emergencies across the city, weighing their abilities, attitudes, personal histories, and suitability for the situation.

Those selections shape relationships and the story. Robert must handle difficult colleagues while confronting the loss of the identity and status that came with being Mecha Man. The destroyed suit is not simply background lore: it provides the direct reason why a former action hero now works within an administrative hierarchy. Dispatch uses that reversal to frame superpowers as resources that must be assigned, coordinated, and managed under pressure.

The game was announced at The Game Awards in December 2024. Its reveal introduced the central setup of Robert's dispatch job and the Z-Team, as well as its adult animated presentation. The project combines office banter, superhero action, character-driven scenes, and consequential player choice in an original setting rather than a licensed comic-book universe.

Aaron Paul voices Robert Robertson. The announced cast also includes Laura Bailey as Invisigal, alongside Jeffrey Wright, Matthew Mercer, Travis Willingham, Sean McLoughlin, known online as Jacksepticeye, and Charles White Jr., known as MoistCr1TiKaL. Their involvement places recognizable film, television, game, and online personalities within a story focused on a team whose members are trying to move beyond villainy.

AdHoc Studio's background is relevant to Dispatch's format. Its founders previously worked on story-focused games at Telltale, including projects associated with Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us. Dispatch continues that emphasis on dialogue, choices, and branching character consequences, but applies it to a new superhero world. Robert cannot simply reclaim his old role by beating one clear enemy; he must make judgment calls about people who have powers, baggage, and reasons not to trust each other.
