Introduction

Released in 2022, Pokémon Legends Arceus brought innovation and new mechanics to a franchise that still maintains similar game models. In a completely new region based on Japan, referencing old characters from the Sinnoh region, Legends Arceus came with several aspects that justified its success.

Regional forms, a concept already introduced previously, were also renewed in the game, giving old and new Pokémon updated forms, not only with new typing and attacks, but completely new entries in the Pokédex. So, here’s a guide on how to get each exclusive form from the Hisui region!

Hisuian Pokémon

Growlithe and Arcanine

The Fire/Rock-type form of the beloved Growlithe can be obtained in the Cobalt Coastlands region, the third unlocked map region to explore in the game. More specifically, in the locations called “Windbreak Stand” and “Veilstone Cape”.

Its evolution, Hisuian Arcanine, can only be acquired by evolving the previous one with a Fire Stone, and cannot be caught in the wild. To obtain the stone, it can be a random drop in time distortion events, or exchanged for merit points, acquired by recovering other players' lost backpacks.

Voltorb and Electrode

The new Grass/Electric-type can only be captured in the penultimate region unlocked in the game, “Coronet Highlands”. The Pokémon is found in the “Sacred Plaza” location, with an average level of 40.

To acquire Electrode, it can be evolved at any level using the Leaf Stone. In addition to following the logic of all the other stones to be acquired, this one can also be acquired as a drop when moving piles of leaves or as a quest reward.

Decidueye, Typlosion and Samurott

One of the game's starters can be acquired at the beginning of the adventure and evolved by leveling up to obtain its unique Hisuian form. However, the other two that weren’t chosen can only be acquired after the end of the main story, as a gift from Professor Laventon.

At the same time, and with some rarity, these Pokémon can also be acquired in time distortion events.

Qwilfish and Overqwill

The Poison/Water-type Qwilfish can be acquired by exploring the map directly in the Cobalt Coastlands region. Specifically, “Tranquility Cove”, “Lunker’s Lair” and “Islespy Shore”. To evolve it into Overqwill, the player must level up the Pokémon until it learns Barb Barrage, and use this attack 20 times in the strong style. It’s worth remembering that, as it’s an aquatic Pokémon, it’s necessary to have already unlocked Basculegion’s support to explore the water.

Qwilfish had no evolution until the release of this game, so this was the first appearance of Overqwill.

Sneasel and Sneasler

Sneasel can only be acquired in the last two areas of the game: Coronet Highlands in the “Celestica Trail” and “Primeval Grotto” regions, and in Alabaster Icelands, in the “Avalugg’s Legacy” and “Glacier Terrace” areas.

Its exclusive evolution, Sneasler, can only be acquired by evolving a Sneasel during the day while holding a Razor Claw. This can be dropped by capturing or defeating Sneasel, or exchanged for merit points.

Lilligant

Originally only a Grass-type, the new version of Lilligant also has a Fighting-type and an exclusive attack, Victory Dance. To acquire it, a Sun Stone and its predecessor, Petilil, are required.

The stone follows the same logic as the previous ones to be acquired, and Petilil inhabits “Cottonsedge Prairie” and “Holm of Trials” in the second region of the game, Crimson Mirelands.

Zorua and Zoroark

Perhaps the most beloved Hisuian form of all, the new Zorua form is acquired in the game's final unlocked area, Alabaster Icelands, in the “Bonechill Wastes” region. Alongside this, the player also faces an Alpha Zoroark as the game progresses, which can also be captured.

Its pre-evolution, Rufflet, lives in “Lake Acuity”, in Alabaster Icelands. Its evolution only occurs at level 54, and it usually has an attractive typing for players, being a Normal/Psychic type.

Sliggoo and Goodra

Goodra

Its first stage, Goomy, can be found in two regions: “Holm of Trials - Crimson Mirelands” and “Ancient Quarry - Coronet Highlands”. Its habitat is also often home to its next evolution, Sliggoo, in the form of an Alpha Pokémon, which can be challenging to capture. Goomy evolves at level 40 into Sliggoo, and then into Goodra at level 50 if it’s raining.

Avalugg

The noble Pokémon of Alabaster Iceland, Avalugg isn’t found naturally evolved in the wild. It’s necessary to capture Bergmite, which evolves at level 37. This one is found in all the ice caves in this region, is quite abundant and easy to spot.

Legends Arceus is a great mix of old favorites and creative new forms, allowing both veterans and new players to use a variety of teams that cover a variety of weaknesses. I hope this guide helps anyone who is completing their Pokédex, or wants to build a complete Hisuian team!

See you next time!
