Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is an upcoming first-person shooter scheduled for release on October 23, 2026. It follows Modern Warfare III (2023) and continues the rebooted Modern Warfare storyline, placing its campaign in the context of a North Korean invasion of South Korea.
The campaign uses two contrasting perspectives. One belongs to Private Park, a young South Korean soldier facing his first combat deployment. Park’s viewpoint places the player alongside a serviceman entering an active war for the first time, with the invasion forming the central conflict around his introduction to combat. The other perspective belongs to Captain Price, who is operating outside official channels while pursuing a personal mission. These roles establish a divided campaign structure: Park is connected to South Korea’s direct military response, while Price acts independently and follows objectives driven by personal motives rather than formal authorization.
This dual-perspective setup continues the rebooted series’ focus on modern military conflict while giving the story two distinct positions within the same invasion. The campaign therefore links a soldier’s first deployment with an experienced captain’s unauthorized operation, both unfolding during the assault on South Korea.
Modern Warfare 4 also includes multiplayer content built around several types of combat. Its core multiplayer offering features 6v6 maps for traditional team-based matches. Alongside those maps are large-scale environments designed for vehicle combat, expanding the multiplayer experience beyond infantry-only engagements. The game’s multiplayer also introduces a dynamic map system called Kill Block. This system is a defined feature of the game’s map design, adding a changing element to how multiplayer spaces function during matches.
Together, the announced campaign and multiplayer components give Modern Warfare 4 a clear structure. The single-player side follows the North Korean invasion through Private Park and Captain Price, pairing a first combat deployment with a personal mission conducted outside official channels. The multiplayer side combines established 6v6 play with larger vehicle-combat maps and the Kill Block dynamic map system.
As a continuation of Modern Warfare III (2023), the game is positioned within the rebooted Modern Warfare narrative rather than as a separate interpretation of the name. Its announced setting, characters, perspectives, and multiplayer formats define the specific direction of this 2026 release.
