Control Resonant sold 1 million copies in three weeks, becoming the fastest Remedy game to reach that milestone. The previous record belonged to Alan Wake 2, which took two months after launch to sell as many copies.

Remedy celebrated the result in an October 15 social media post, thanking everyone who played and shared the game and took part in its community. Thomas Puha, the studio’s communications director, also commented on its performance: “A strong start”.

The figure is notable given what happened after the game’s digital launch in late September. People cracked its copy protection and distributed pirated copies, prompting some in the community to urge other players not to use them. One person even said they had decided to buy Control Resonant to support Remedy.

The availability of pirated copies did not stop the game from breaking the studio’s previous record. Physical editions have only just been released, and Remedy has not said how many copies they have sold.

Also known for the first Control, Max Payne and Quantum Break, Remedy has reached the milestone as fans discuss the studio’s future. The reported sales show that Control Resonant is off to a strong start, but they alone cannot establish how the game will perform over the long term.
