CS:GO was an FPS that remained at the top for over a decade, attracting the millions of fans of CS 1.6 at its launch. But, since everything needs renovation, Valve decided to end updates to Global Offensive, working with a gigantic improvement and a new graphics engine for a new title, Counter-Strike 2.
Even having great numbers, CS2 is still the target of some criticism from the community, where many wanted to return to its predecessor to relive the memories of years of playing Global Offensive. And this is still possible, including playing online matches and with your friends.

With that in mind, we at UmGamer worked on a complete guide, teaching you how to play CS:GO and showing which modes are still available there. Check it out!
How to play CS:GO in 2024
The first step is to open Steam, you need to have Counter-Strike 2 installed. Go into your library, right click on CS2 and go to properties.
A modal will appear, access the Betas tab.
Finally, in “Beta Participation”, click on the “csgo_legacy - Legacy Version of CS:GO” option.
Just close this window, and the game will start downloading automatically. Once completed, whenever you click to enter CS, you will have the following options. Select CS:GO and enjoy!
Valve has ended support for the game, so it’s possible to notice some absences, such as the banners and the character.
Modes available in CS:GO
Through the game itself, it’s only possible to play with bots or alone, since the company no longer offers official servers. Still, it's a great opportunity to satisfy the nostalgia for old mechanics.
However, with the help of some third-party servers, we’re able to have online experiences and play with friends.
How to play CS:GO online in 2024
Accessing these unofficial servers is very simple, I use Game Tracker. In it, just go to the “Servers” tab, select the game “Counter-Strike Global Offensive” and the country in which you want to play. Then click “GO” and you will see a list of available games.
You can see the number of players present and the maximum, as well as the map on which the match is being played. To enter, copy the IP:Port of the game you are interested in, open the CS:GO console in the menu and type “connect”, hit space, and then enter the copied address.
If your console is not opening with the apostrophe being the default command, go to the game settings and make sure the Activate Developer Console option is marked as “YES”, in the same way as in the example below.
You will be redirected automatically, the first few times it may take a few minutes because you need to download the map packages, but you’ll soon be connected.
Conclusion
Take this opportunity to explore older versions of maps, or those that aren't even available in CS2, like Cobblestone and Cache. The physics of Global Offensive were also very different, with movement which was treated as better by a large part of the community, and more accurate AWP shots.

Smoke from CS:GO however doesn't have as much praise, given that it suffered from several concepts that deviated from physics, but it's still a lot of fun to use it to satisfy your nostalgia.
I'm available in the comments if you have any questions or suggestions, I hope this article has helped you return to CS:GO after more than a year away.
